The invention relates to tooth drops consisting of herbal active ingredients in an aqueous alcoholic solvent.
So far, oral cavity and tooth complaints can only be treated with systematically effective analgesics, which, however, puts a strain on the whole body, especially the stomach and liver, and the 5 pains must not be combated at the point of origin, but via organ-related detours.
The invention is therefore based on the object to eliminate these deficiencies and to create a new dental treatment agent which has a direct effect on the tooth or the painful area of the oral cavity and, with natural biological substances, brings about rapid pain relief with a simultaneous anti-inflammatory and disinfectant effect. 70 The invention solves this problem by tooth drops, in which sage oil, eucalyptus oil and clove oil are solved as active ingredients in an alcoholic solvent.
Advantageously, 0.75% by volume of sage oil, 0.75% by volume of eucalyptus oil and 0.40% by volume of clove oil are dissolved in 96% by weight of ethyl alcohol. Essential oils are known per se for their disinfectant, analgesic and anesthetic effects and are also used in many cases to improve the healing process. It has now been found that the essential oils of sage, eucalyptus and clove complement each other optimally in their mode of action and can be used in the form of tooth drops in the best way for the direct treatment of especially painful tooth problems. Sage oil provides an important tanning agent for the production of an alkaline medium, the eucalyptus oil has an antiseptic and astringent effect and is therefore anti-inflammatory, and clove oil, due to its special bitter substance, leads to resinification of fine pores and tubules in the tooth enamel.
To explain the mode of action of the tooth drops according to the invention, it should be briefly pointed out that • the main mass of the tooth consists of dentine (dentin) which is coated with tooth enamel in the area of the tooth crown. When caries develops, the inorganic hard substance begins to dissolve in the enamel, which also leads to decomposition of the basic substance in the enamel and dentin. This decay of the enamel and dentin is mainly caused by fermentation acids, which cause decalcification and then attack the enamel and dentin by bacterial enzymes. Before the destruction of the dentin near the pulp is clinically recognizable, bacteria penetrate the pulp through the countless fine dentin canals and cause uncomfortable pain, which subsequently leads to severe inflammation of the pulp and finally to Dying of the tooth (necrosis) can come.
The tooth drops according to the invention now make it possible to alleviate tooth pain, additionally prevent bacterial infection and, if necessary, allow inflammation of the pulp that has already occurred to subside. Eucalyptus oil and also clove oil guarantee an excellent anesthetic effect 35 of the tooth drops, this effect being linked to the pH of the saliva and stronger in the alkaline environment than in the acidic environment. Sage oil, the tannin of which alkalizes the area around the tooth, is therefore of particular importance and increases the anesthetic effect of eucalyptus oil. Sage oil and eucalyptus oil are also disinfectant and highly anti-inflammatory. Eucalyptus oil is also characterized by its astringent effect, since protein precipitation creates a certain degree of eschar and thus protection against external influences. As already mentioned, the tannin and bitter substances in the clove oil lead to resinification of the fine dentinal tubules, which prevents the bacteria from penetrating into the interior of the teeth. The bacteria are trapped, mummified and rendered harmless. The resinification of the fine dentin tubules also leads to desensitization of the tooth necks, which ensures successful use of the tooth drops even with 45 hypersensitive teeth.
Diese Blätter werden in Alkohol eingelegt und müssen sehr schonend mit Hilfe 2The tooth drops according to the invention are usually instilled undiluted directly by means of cotton swabs or the like in or on an aching tooth, which treatment can be repeated if necessary. Of course, the tooth drops can also be dissolved in water and used diluted as a mouthwash in daily oral and dental care. The production of the tooth drops is relatively difficult because the essential oils used have to be specially prepared in order to be able to develop their full effect. To prepare the tooth drops, the prepared sage, eucalyptus and clove oils are successively stirred into ethyl alcohol, on the one hand the sage and eucalyptus leaves are placed in alcohol to prepare sage and eucalyptus oil and the resulting starting liquids are distilled to separate the oils 55, on the other hand, to prepare clove oil, the rootstock of the clove is dried and pulverized, treated with steam and processed into an alcoholic tincture. Only the leaves before flowering are used for sage oil and only the long crescent-shaped leaves of the older branches are used for eucalyptus oil. These sheets are soaked in alcohol and must be very gently with the help of 2
