This invention relates to a tread covering made of plastic for skis with three longitudinal areas, of which the front and the rear made of polyethylene and the middle longitudinal area at least in part of the ski width made of a mixture of polyethylene and elastomer in a ratio of 20 to 80% by weight. Parts of polyethylene to 80 to 20 parts by weight of elastomer.
The invention has for its object that a ski that with a tread formed in this way in the upturned state optimal sliding properties and flat
Condition has optimal climbing properties when the central area is pressed against the snow with a heavy load.
This is achieved according to the invention in that the remaining one in the central longitudinal region
Part d. H. 5 to 40% of the ski width consists of a polyethylene strip and that this part is arranged on the side area facing the other ski.
The arrangement of a polyethylene strip on the inside of the ski in the middle longitudinal section, in which a climbing aid like the one above is used, enables the new movement technique in cross-country skiing (push-off by a one-sided or double-sided fishbone step - SIITONEN step).
The sliding on the inside of the ski is further improved by the polyethylene covering used, the sliding on the inside of the tread, compared to the sliding on the mixture of polyethylene and elastomer.
Furthermore, by increasing the molecular weight and the density of the polyethylene covering on the inside of the ski surface, increased abrasion resistance can be achieved.
Of course, tread coverings according to this invention can also be used for some alpine skis.
Applications for alpine touring skis and cross-country skis for hiking in unprepared terrain are quite conceivable.
Example 1 :
On a cross-country ski, with a length of 2050 mm, the tread surface is in the middle longitudinal section of the ski, i.e. H. Measured approximately 200 to 205 mm in the direction of the ski tip and approximately 200 to 250 mm in the direction of the ski end from the binding mounting point, 90% of the width from a mixture of polyethylene and elastomer and 10% of the width from polyethylene. The ratio of the mixture used in this area is 20 parts by weight of polyethylene to 80 parts by weight of elastomers. The front and rear longitudinal area is made of polyethylene.
One of the following substances can be used as the elastomer:
Polychloroprene
Rubber (vulcanized)
Nitrile rubber
Polyisobutylene
Polybutadiene
Styrene butadiene rubber
Silicone rubber etc.
Mixtures of these materials The ski, which is equipped with this tread surface in the middle part, has optimal sliding properties when it is flanged and optimal climbing properties when it is flattened in dry snow conditions.
Example 2:
The tread covering in the middle part is arranged as in Example 1. The mixing ratio of polyethylene to elastomer is 80 parts by weight of polyethylene and 20 parts by weight of elastomer.
The elastomer proportions in the mixture correspond to the materials described in Example 1.
This ski has optimal climbing and gliding properties in wet snow conditions.
