<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

The invention relates to a rollable cover for swimming pools with a rewinder that can be mounted under water.
Some embodiments of such roll covers have already become known, which are used as protection against contamination of the water, as a safety cover and also for saving heating costs. When a swimming pool is newly created, corresponding cutouts are generally provided in the side walls in order to enable this roller cover or the winding device thereof to be installed under water.
If such installation niches are provided in the side walls of the swimming pool beforehand, a subsequent sealing takes place, so that such an installation can be carried out without problems.
However, such niches are not provided in existing swimming pools, and subsequent installation of such rollable covers under water is very difficult. If the walls of the swimming pool are drilled to fasten the rewinder, it is practically impossible to achieve an appropriate tightness of the swimming pool again, since the continuous sealing coating is thereby damaged. Up to now, therefore, it has generally been necessary to mount the winding device on the upper edge of the swimming pool, but such an arrangement is usually deflected for aesthetic and also for practical reasons.
It should also be noted that swimming pools are made from a wide variety of materials. In addition to the swimming pools made of in-situ concrete, swimming pools are also made of metal profiles or swimming pools in which the pool boundary is formed by a plastic film that is supported directly on the ground. It is therefore difficult in all of these constructions to damage the sealing paint or a sealing film if such a roll cover is to be installed lying under water.
The invention has therefore set itself the task of creating a rollable cover for swimming pools, which can be retrofitted in pools of any type without problems in the area below the water level.
According to the invention, it is proposed that the winding device be held in a supporting structure that extends approximately over the length or width of a swimming pool and that at least one end of the supporting structure, based on the longitudinal extent of the winding device, has one or more tendons for bracing the supporting structure between two opposite walls of the swimming pool are provided.
By means of these measures according to the invention, it is possible to subsequently mount such a supporting structure in any swimming pool that is continuous, without damaging or destroying the sealing layers or sealing foils on the walls of the swimming pool. The tightness of the swimming pool is thus ensured even after the installation of such a rollable cover. Such tendons also allow assembly on uneven walls of swimming pools, since the more or less wide adjustment of the tendons always achieves a corresponding system on the walls of the swimming pool.
Even with relatively wide rollable covers, a safe and problem-free mounting of the winding device together with the corresponding supporting structure is possible.
Further features and special advantages according to the invention are explained in more detail in the following description with reference to the drawings. 1 shows a cross section through a swimming pool, FIG. 2 shows a plan view of a partial area of the swimming pool, FIG. 3 shows a section along the line II in FIG. 1, FIG. 4 shows a schematic oblique view corresponding to the section in FIGS. 3 and Fig. 5 shows schematically the supporting structure of the winding device.
A swimming pool --1-- essentially consists of the floor --2-- and the side walls --3--. In the carrying structure --4--, a winding device for a rollable cover --5-- is provided in the embodiment according to the invention. Such a rewinder with the corresponding supporting structure --4-- can usefully be located in the area of a narrow
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
side of a swimming pool, whereby the width of the rollable cover is smaller, but the length is greater. It is of course also possible to mount on the long side of the swimming pool --1--, but then the width of the rollable cover becomes larger and the length shorter.
The rollable cover can, for example, be made of plastic in the manner of roller shutter elements, or it can be made of a film or of course any rollable cover. For example, adjoining elements made of wood could be provided or, for example, foils with enclosed air cushions. When using roller shutter profiles, these are expediently closed at the ends, so that air-tight cavities are formed. When the cover is extended, it therefore has sufficient buoyancy so that it initially runs vertically upwards, as can be seen, for example, from FIGS. 3 and 4, and from there it can be floated forward on the surface of the water in the swimming pool.
This makes it possible to cover the entire water surface properly without the need for lateral guides for such a roller cover. Of course, such lateral guides can be provided.
The invention now relates to the fact that the winding device --6-- is held in a supporting structure --1-- extending approximately over the length or width of a swimming pool. At least one end of the support structure --4--, relative to the longitudinal extent of the winding device --6--, is provided with one or more tendons - 7 - by means of which the support structure --4-- between two opposing walls --2-- of the swimming pool can be tensioned.
These tendons can be designed in many different ways, but they must be adjustable and lockable. It is clear that a corresponding contact pressure must be achieved through these tendons in order to hold the supporting structure --4-- in the set position. It is less about the weight of the supporting structure and the weight of the rollable cover, but rather about the enormous buoyancy forces that arise when using hollow profiles for the rollable cover.
The tendons --7-- can be arranged at one end of the support structure --4-- or also conveniently on both sides at the ends of the support structure - 4--.
This can compensate for walls that are not exactly parallel --2-- or for unevenness in the walls --2--.
The supporting structure --4-- expediently consists of profile rails - 8-- running continuously at least at its corner areas in the longitudinal direction, with --8-- tendons --7-- being provided just at the ends of these profile rails. This makes it possible to support the four corner points of the supporting structure so that the supporting structure can be firmly anchored --4-- to the opposite walls --2-- of the swimming pool. Especially when four such tendons are arranged, it is again necessary or at least advantageous if all of them can be individually adjusted and fixed.
Depending on the construction of the swimming pool, i.e. depending on the design of the side walls --2--, the arrangement of a pressure distribution plate --9-- is necessary in order to spread the otherwise almost point-acting forces of the tendons --7-- over a larger area of the walls --2-- to transfer. Such an arrangement of a pressure distribution plate --9-- is particularly necessary if coating foils or coatings are provided in the swimming pool. The large-area support will then certainly not cause any damage to the sealing coatings or foils.
In addition, the arrangement of this pressure distribution plate --9-- increases the additional security against adjustment of the supporting structure --4-- transversely to its longitudinal direction, since these pressure distribution plates - 9 - just in the area of the tendons --7-- Bend slightly so that practically these pressure distribution plates --9-- fit positively on the side walls --2-- of the swimming pool. This slight deformation can also be seen in FIG. 5. Depending on the structure of the walls --2-- this pressure distribution plate --9-- will be made of the appropriate material and of course also in the appropriate material thickness.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
A particularly simple construction of the tendons can be seen in FIG. 5.
The tendons --7-- are designed as axially adjustable tension screws --10-- at the ends of the profile rails --8-- of the supporting structure --4--. It is therefore only necessary to provide appropriate thread inserts at the ends of the profile rails --8--. Between the head --11-- of these clamping screws --10-- and the end of the profile rails --8-- there is an additional lock nut --12-- to secure the tensioned position of the clamping screws --11-.
In order to achieve a correspondingly high, but finely adjustable contact pressure of the tendons --7--, it is advisable if the tensioning screws --10- provided here are designed with a fine thread.
From Fig. 5 it can also be seen that the head --11-- of the clamping screws --10-- is provided with a spherical elevation --13-- on the side facing away from the threaded shaft. Such a design provides good support even on uneven walls --2-- and also a better possibility of deformation of the pressure distribution plate, thereby creating an additional positive connection between the clamping screws --11-- and the pressure distribution plate --9-- as well as between the pressure distribution plate --9-- and the walls --2--.
As a rule, the arrangement of such a pressure distribution plate --7-- is necessary. But it would also be conceivable if the walls --2-- are made of a correspondingly hard and stable material to omit this pressure distribution plate --9--. In such a case, for example, when the tendons --7-- are designed as tensioning screws --10--, the spherical elevations --13-- could be designed as attachable parts, which consist of much smaller parts than the pressure distribution plate --9-- consist. A correspondingly smaller area could therefore be used for the support. It would also be conceivable to only use the crowned
EMI3.1
--13-- alslen.
It has already been stated that tendons --7-- can be used in a wide variety of constructions. So it is not only possible to provide clamping screws, but also corresponding, pivotable tendons etc.
The take-up device --6-- can be driven in a variety of ways.
It is thus possible to guide a drive chain upwards on a side boundary of the wall --2-- in a conventional manner, with a corresponding electric drive then being provided above the water level. The drive shaft can easily be inserted through the wall --2--, since this drive shaft is then located above the water level. The electric drive itself could then be arranged, for example, in a mounting box to the side of the swimming pool, it being practically always possible to move such a mounting box later.
Especially in connection with the subsequent attachment of rollable covers under water, it is advantageous if the winding device is driven in a special way. It would be conceivable with such an arrangement to provide a water drive, that is to say to use a hydraulic motor which can be connected to the water supply network in a simple manner. The rollable cover could then be extended or pulled in solely by the water pressure in the line network.
The measures according to the invention not only create the possibility of retrofitting a rollable cover in a swimming pool without damaging the seals on the side walls of the swimming pool, but the construction according to the invention also makes installation quick and easy and, if necessary, disassembly possible.
The supporting structure --4-- is expediently provided with a cladding --14-- on the top and on the side facing the swimming pool. The support structure is mounted at a distance above the floor --3-- of the swimming pool, so that floor cleaning is possible below this support structure. In addition, the material deposited on the rollable cover can drop out when the rollable cover is pulled in downward and can be removed again there during the cleaning work.
