Cooling device for electrical machines.
Cooling devices for electrical machines are already known. in which the stator is cooled by a water jacket and the rotor is cooled by an air flow, in such a way that the air is sucked into the housing of the machine and, after it has been driven through the air gap between the rotor and the stator, is removed from the housing again.
However, this arrangement has several disadvantages. Once the air stream sucked in and expelled at high speed generates a loud noise, the large amounts of air conveyed through the machine, especially when the machine is housed in a dusty room, bring with them large amounts of solid particles which contaminate the machine. Furthermore, this arrangement cannot be used without special measures in rooms where explosive gases can occur, wril

can give.
On the other hand, it is also known to carry out the cooling of the stator and the rotor by means of circulating air inside the housing of the machine, which sweeps past in its circuit attached to inner half of the housing, water-cooled cooling surfaces.
However, the cooling achieved with this arrangement is less effective.
According to the present invention, the stator is cooled directly by the water jacket, which, however, is penetrated by channels through which the air circulating inside the housing for the purpose of cooling the rotor flows, so that the stator receives effective, direct water cooling and only the rotor is cooled by air will

In the drawing, four exemplary embodiments of the subject matter of the invention are illustrated in schematic longitudinal sections.
The ; Country 1 of the machine is provided in a known manner with a water jacket 2 which touches the laminated cores of the stator and in which cold water or another cooling liquid circulates which is used for effective direct cooling of the stator. The machine is enclosed in a housing 4, but on the housing, at points where there is negative pressure, if necessary, openings 6 equipped with a dust filter

If the air is driven by the fan device of the rotor in the direction of the arrows 10, a negative pressure is created in the chamber 8 and an overpressure in the chamber 9, which causes an air flow in the direction of the arrows 11 through the air channels 5 of the water jacket: 2 generate. The heated air flowing over from the chamber 9 into the chamber 8

The jacket always remains in direct contact with the metal sheets.
To cool the air, special water-cooled cooling surfaces can also be provided in a known manner, as can be seen from FIG. 3, where the end walls of the housing 4 with Waaserkammem JH? are equipped.
It is not necessary for the cooling air to be guided in a straight line from one end of the rotor to the other end of the same.
In Fig. 4, for. B. an arrangement is shown in which the air flows from both ends of the rotor in the direction of the arrows 10 towards the center of the rotor and from here in both directions 11 through the cooling jacket 2, 2 into the chambers 8.
In all cases, the surfaces of the air ducts swept by the air can be provided with cooling fins and the like. B. 13 in Fig. 3 be equipped for more effective cooling of the air.
