The invention relates to a device for dividing metallic profile strands, with two coaxial bushes having bores corresponding to the strand cross section, one of which is designed to be rotatable about its axis.
Such devices have become known in which the one socket is arranged in a housing so that it can rotate on a sliding block which is displaced with the aid of a lever and a hydraulic cylinder, while the second socket is rigidly attached.
As a result of the idle gear occurring in the known devices and not coinciding with the working movement, only a relatively low level of performance results when the drive power required is high.
It is an object of the invention to eliminate these disadvantages and to provide a device for dividing metallic profile strands, which is constructed so that the directions of the working and the idle gear of the tool and of the drive elements coincide, so as to improve performance with reduced drive power to increase. This goal can be achieved according to the invention with a device of the type mentioned in that a disengageable clutch arranged coaxially to the drive part and the socket is provided to connect the rotatable socket to a rotating drive part, and that the other socket is axially displaceable and resiliently against the rotatable bushing is pressed.
To ensure reliable engagement between the clutch and the rotatable socket, it is advantageous if an overload clutch is provided by forming claw-like projections on the facing end faces of the rotatable socket and the clutch.
The drive part of the device is expediently designed as a flywheel which is arranged on an axis common to the clutch and the two sockets.
It can be advantageous if a common groove is formed in the clutch and the flywheel, into which a movable spring wedge can be inserted. The invention is explained in more detail below using an exemplary embodiment which is illustrated in the drawings. 1 shows a longitudinal section through the device according to the invention and FIG. 2 shows a view according to arrow A in FIG. 1.
The device consists of a housing --1--, in which a sleeve --2-- is provided, which is attached to a support --4-- via an intermediate bearing - 3 -. Two sockets - 5 and 6 - are inserted into the sleeve - 2 - in which holes corresponding to the extruded profile are made. The one socket

Sockets 5 and 6 are pressed against the clutch 9 by means of springs 22 via a pressure plate 21, so that an overload clutch is formed in this way. The clutch --9-- can be braked by means of a band brake --23-- of conventional design. A hood - 24 - forms the upper end of the device.
The device works as follows: In the starting position, the flywheel --8-- and the clutch --9-- are not connected to one another. A profile strand --25 - is pushed into the hollow shaft-7 and the bushes - 5, 6 -. By switching on the electric motor --14-- that becomes
