 stoffen in Schattierungen oder Übergängen   ausgefärbt.   In ähnlicher Weise, wie Stoffe jeder Art, lassen sich auch glatt aufgebäumte Ketten und Papiere, einschliesslich Papierbahnen so in   Farbenübergängen   herstellen. 



   Eine ähnliche Vorrichtung ist allerdings zur Hervorbringung von Irisdrucken schon in Anwendung gebracht worden. Diesem Verfahren gegenüber ist das neue durch die Verwendung unverdickter Lösungen an Stelle der dort verwendeten verdickten Druckfarben, durch die Verwendung einer bombierten (mit Stoffumwicklung versehenen) Mittelwalze an Stelle der früher verwendeten mit Kautschuk bezogenen oder gekörnten bzw. gravierten Druckwalze gekennzeichnet. Besonders hervorzuheben ist aber noch ferner die verschiedene technische Wirkung der beiden Verfahren : Das   ältere   Verfahren arbeitet als Druckverfahren und liefert einseitig irisierte Stoffe, während das neue Verfahren auch die schwersten Gewebe durch und durch färbt und ihnen das Aussehen gibt, als wären sie auf der Kufe oder dem- Jigger gefärbt worden. 



   Es ist klar, dass diese Arbeitsweise bei ausserordentlicher Einfachheit der Anlage und des Betriebes eine hervorragende sichere und grosse Produktion   ermöglicht.   Je grösser die Anzahl, also je schmäler die Breite der Abteilungen im Farbtrog gewählt wird, um so zarter lassen sich die   Farbenübergängo   herstellen bzw. um so öfter lassen sie sich wiederholen. Ausserdem lassen sich die Effekte noch dadurch mannigfaltiger gestalten, dass man einzelne Abteilungen mit Wasser füllt, dadurch kann man einesteils besondere Farbübergänge vermitteln, andererseits auf verhältnismässig schmalem Raume vielfache und verschiedenfarbige Farbschatten hervorbringen. Übergänge in satten Farben werden vorteilhaft auch so hervorgebracht, dass schon gefärbte Stoffe mit Farbschattierungen versehen werden.

   A similar device, however, has already been used for producing iris prints. In contrast to this method, the new one is characterized by the use of unthickened solutions instead of the thickened printing inks used there, by the use of a cambered (fabric-wrapped) central roller in place of the rubber-covered or grained or engraved printing roller previously used. Particularly noteworthy is the different technical effect of the two processes: the older process works as a printing process and supplies fabrics iridescent on one side, while the new process dyes even the heaviest fabrics through and through and gives them the appearance of being on the runner or the jigger been colored.



   It is clear that this way of working, with the extraordinary simplicity of the plant and operation, enables excellent, safe and large production. The larger the number, i.e. the narrower the width of the departments in the color trough, the more delicate the color transitions can be made or the more often they can be repeated. In addition, the effects can be made even more diverse by filling individual departments with water, which on the one hand allows you to convey special color transitions, on the other hand you can produce multiple and different colored shadows in a relatively narrow space. Transitions in rich colors are also advantageously produced in such a way that fabrics that have already been dyed are provided with shades of color.

PATENT CLAIM: Process for the production of shadow and rainbow colors on fabric, chain and paper webs, characterized in that the desired non-thickened colors are collected next to one another on a surface covered with absorbent fabric and transferred from this to the work item by pressure.
