Wird z. B. eine Lösung von Schwefel in Schwefelkohlenstoff mit amorphem Phosphor verrührt, tritt keine Erhitzung oder Reaktion ein ; es resultiert nach dem Verdampfen nur ein mechanisches Gemenge yon Schwefel und amorphem Phosphor, welches keine Spur irgendeiner Veränderung aufweist und sich auch erst bei 250 entzündet ; auch Chloroform verhielt sich ebenso wie Schwefelkohlenstoff.
Durch die Verwendung dieser von weissem Phosphor völlig freien Zündmasse wird der Ausschluss einer Phosphornekrose bei den sich mit der Herstellung der Zündhölzer befassenden Arbeitern erreicht.
Diese mit dieser Masse versehenen ungiftigen Phosphorzündhölzer haben gegenüber den teueren phosphorfreien Zündhölzern, den sogenannten,, schwedischen", welche die alten Weissphosphorzündhölzer zum Teil verdrängt haben, den grossen Vorteil, dass sie erheblich billiger herstellbar und überall zu entzünden sind.
