<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

The parent patent no. 303645 relates to a candle-shaped luminous body, in particular for installation in churches, chapels, memorials or the like Filled, a wick-having cylindrical attachment piece, which consists of a transparent synthetic glass or glass, has the same diameter as the cylindrical tube and is easily replaceable.
The invention is based on the object of improving the candle-shaped luminous element according to the parent patent with regard to its usefulness and service life, even with frequent use.
To achieve this object, it is proposed according to the invention that the top piece consists of a shell made of refractory, clear, transparent glass into which the wax or stearin tablet provided with the wick is inserted.
By using fireproof glass for the top section, the actual holding body for the wax tablet is not damaged during prolonged use.
The clear glass gives the impression that the candle-shaped luminaire is a real candle. This impression is created by the fact that after a certain time of burning, the wax tablet in the top piece has completely melted and thus, like this itself, appears crystal clear. The reflection of the burning wick shines through this crystal-clear mass and the bottom of the top section into the cylindrical tube below, which is made of a translucent or frosted-glass-like plastic, creating the impression of a real burning candle.
It is essential that the bottom of the glass bowl of the top section is not covered with a material that is impermeable to light rays.
The candle-shaped luminous element according to the invention is absolutely drip-free. This is essential in churches or memorials that are provided with forced air heating. With normal candles, this causes the wick to burn off very strongly and thus causes the liquid wax to overflow. The natural candles therefore, apart from the strong tendency to drip, also have a significantly shorter burning time, since a large part of the wax runs off the candle body in liquid form due to the draft.
According to a further embodiment, in the case of the candle-shaped luminous element according to the invention, the transparent attachment piece made of fireproof glass can be provided on the underside with a transparent or translucent cylindrical, heat-resistant body made of plastic. This plastic body has such a diameter that it can be inserted into the cylindrical tube with a fitting fit. The plastic body can also be replaced by a cylindrical ring or several pins which are attached to the underside of the top section. In order to protect the cylindrical tube, this can be on the end face, i. H. on the contact side of the top section, be provided with a ring with an overlapping edge made of a heat-resistant plastic.
An embodiment of the invention is shown in the drawings and will be explained in more detail below. 1 shows a section through a candle-shaped luminous element, FIG. 2 shows a section through a second embodiment of a candle-shaped luminous element, FIG. 3 shows a section through a third embodiment of a candle-shaped luminous element, and FIG. 4 shows a top view of the candle-shaped luminous element according to FIG. 3.
The candle-shaped filament consists of a cylindrical tube on which the

which has a conical opening --5 - for attaching to a candle dome.
On the upper end face the tube-1-is provided with a ring-6-made of plastic, which has an overlapping edge -7- on the outer jacket of the tube-l-. This ring --6-- consists of a relatively highly heat-resistant material.
An attachment piece 8 in the form of a shell made of a crystal-clear and refractory material is placed on the pipe-1 (FIG. 1). The top section -8- has a recess --9-- on the underside, the diameter of which is selected so that the bowl can be inserted into the tube-l- to fit. In the recess --9-- a transparent or translucent cylindrical body --10-- made of a heat-resistant plastic is inserted. On this cylindrical body --10-- sits the actual wax tablet --11--, in which there is a wick --12-- which is held at the bottom by a holder -13.
According to FIG. 2, a cylindrical attachment piece --8 '- is placed on the tube-1-which has no recess on the underside. However, a translucent or transparent plastic body-14-made of a heat-resistant plastic is glued on from below.
According to Fig. 3, a cylindrical attachment piece -8 'is also placed on the pipe-1-, but a plastic ring -15- is glued on instead of the closed plastic body -14-.
