Fig. l zeigt eine schematische Seitenansicht
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

Device for preparing ski slopes
The invention relates to a device for preparing ski slopes, which has at least two rollers driven by a motor via a differential gear, the rollers being drivable at different speeds to control the device.
There is already a piste planer for preparing ski runs and the like. The like known, which consists of a frame moved forward by a pulling device, which carries a height-adjustable cutting device and one or more trailing rollers, the cutting device consisting of two firmly connected knives at an angle to each other and between the cutting device and the trailing, by a power source drivable piste rollers is arranged in the frame of a plow (cf. Austrian Patent No. 242184).
There are also known devices for grooming ski slopes in which a grooming roller is provided within a frame, whereby several rollers held in frames can also be arranged (cf. USA Patent No. 2, 786, 283 and French Patent No. . 1. 332.057). These devices are not self-propelled and can therefore practically only be used downhill to prepare the slopes.
The aim of the invention is to create a device for preparing ski slopes, which has a relatively simple structure and a high level of efficiency, but which, despite the high level of efficiency, can be steered easily and comfortably by a single skier.
This goal is achieved in that in the device of the type mentioned, according to the invention, the rollers are arranged in a symmetrical position on a central frame and are driven directly by the stub shafts of the differential gear, the differential gear together with a reversing switch for the direction and the drive motor forms a drive unit, which is mounted on the frame between the rollers and the frame is extended to a handlebar grip on which the control elements for the drive unit and for the independent brake control of the roller corresponding to the respective handle are provided and a towing device for the operator is arranged, as well as the middle frame, if applicable at its front end carries at least one further preparation roller.
According to a further feature of the invention, the front preparation roller is adjustable in distance to the main rollers by means of bolts.
The middle frame allows the motor unit to be mounted centrally. The control organs for actuating the brakes allow the driver to comfortably carry out the steering operations for the device due to the independent braking of one or the other roller.
Since a towing device is provided for the skier, the operator does not need to use his hands to drag him along, so that the hands remain free to carry out the steering and control handles.
Since the device should be usable on very differently designed ski slopes, it is of the greatest advantage to have a device provided with a central frame, in which additional pairs of rollers can be arranged by simple assembly as required.
Further advantages of the invention emerge from the following description, in which the invention is explained in more detail with reference to the drawings. Fig. 1 shows a schematic side view
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
an embodiment of the device according to the invention and FIG. 2 is a schematic view from above.
A motor --6-- is attached to a middle frame --30--, the shaft of which drives a differential gear - 13 - via a reversing switch - 31 -.
The two rollers 2 and 2 '- (Fig. 2) are attached to the frame --30-- and are driven by the stub shafts of the differential gear --13--.
The frame --30-- preferably consists of support tubes and ends in hollow handle bars - -19, 19 '-. At the extreme end of these handle bars are the handlebar grips - 26 and 26 '- on which the operator --20-- rests his hands. In addition to these handles, there are a number of control devices, which are schematically designated - 8, 10, 11, 12 and 14 -. Inside the hollow handlebars - 19 and 19 '- the wires and rods - 35, 35' - run for the controls. As can be seen from Fig. 2, an extension piece -7- is attached to the frame -30-on which the axis of two rollers-3, 3 'is located.
The rollers - 3, 3 '- have the purpose of preparing the part of the runway that, according to the width of the frame - 30 - will not be touched by the rollers - 2, 2' - and the device against a possible overturning due to the rotation of the drive rollers - 2, 2 '- to protect.
EMI2.1
The embodiment according to FIG. 2 with two independent rollers has the advantage that these rollers also follow the drive rollers better in the curve and the outer roller can rotate faster than the inner one.
From Fig. 1 you can see how the distance between drive rollers - -2, 2 '- and stabilizing rollers -3, 3' - by changing the length of the extension piece --7-- by means of bolts --18 which can be inserted into holes in the extension piece - can be adjusted. The rollers 2, 2 'or 3, 3' - have wheel hubs - 4, 4 'or 4 "and 4"' - and spokes - 1, 1 ', 1 "and 1', which form the rolling surface The rolling surfaces are provided with radially protruding projections - 17, 17 ', 17 "- made of wood, metal or abrasive synthetic material, which increases the pressure on the snow and enables even steep slopes on icy layers of snow to be overcome can.
Through the arrangement of spokes shown, the snow that accumulates inside the rollers is dumped outwards by the spokes.
The drum brakes, which are not shown in the drawings, are mounted in the wheel hubs - 4 and 4 '- of the drive rollers. These are actuated by pressing the lever --10-- for roller-2 - and the lever --12-- for roller-2 '-, whereby the liquid is added by the pumps --15, 16-- the brake shoes is promoted.
The differential gear --13-- and the independent brakes with separate controls - 10, 12-- and the independent pumps - 15, 16-- for the rollers - 2, 2 '- make the device extremely manoeuvrable .
Under normal circumstances, it is sufficient to drive a curve if the operator presses the lever --9 or 19 '- whereas in particularly difficult circumstances the inner roller can be braked more than the outer one, which means that even slopes with a large number of turns can be traced can be.
The drive rollers - 2, 2 '- can be provided on their edges with rings - 9, 9' - which have a diameter that is greater than that of the roller frame. These rings give the device greater stability and do not let it slide off as soon as it has to go up again on slopes with steep inclines.
The reversing switch --31--, which is operated by the control element --14--, enables both forward and backward movement, so that the device can be guided in a zigzag movement.
The motor - 6 - is regulated by the control unit - 8 -, the speed change and the gas supply by the lever
The device also has a ballast carrier - 27 - (in the form of a small cavity for lead plates), which makes it possible to regulate the weight of the device and to achieve the desired ideal pressure on any part of the slope and in any snow.
At the end of the handlebars 19, 19 'there is a protective shaft 23 and a seat 24 for the operator 20 who is on skis 25. The seat is connected to the handlebars by an elastic connecting part 21.
