Automatic drainage valve for discharging compressed air condensate
The invention relates to an automatic drainage valve for discharging compressed air condensate which accumulates in pipeline low points or condensate containers.
Dewatering processes take place in all compressed air tanks in which condensate is separated in liquid form from the compressed air as a result of a temperature gradient or pressure increase. The drainage takes place through mechanically or electrically operated drainage valves that are arranged at certain low points of a pipeline or compressed air network or on compressed air tanks, which are operated manually or as a function of timers.
However, these drainage valves have the disadvantage that with each initiated drainage process, apart from condensate, they also blow off an uncontrollable amount of usable compressed air into the atmosphere, which is urgently required especially for operating compressed air switching devices in the event of a fault. It can also happen that drainage processes are initiated without condensate having accumulated.
Drain valves have also become known which automatically and periodically deliver certain small amounts of liquid from a gas space of higher pressure into a gas space of lower pressure. However, these valves also have the disadvantage that drainage processes are initiated without condensate having accumulated, since the stepped piston serving to convey the condensate is actuated by a fluctuating control pressure regardless of the amount of condensate.
The purpose of the invention is to limit the loss of compressed air that occurs during dewatering processes to a minimum.
The invention is based on the object of creating an automatic valve for draining compressed air tanks which, depending on the condensate that has accumulated, releases the same into the open.
According to the invention, this object is achieved in that the stepped piston of the drainage valve, the larger piston surface of which is acted upon in a manner known per se by a control pressure in the compressed air tank, which fluctuates between a maximum fillable pressure and a minimum evacuation pressure, on its side facing away from the control pressure a compression spring is applied, which is located in a room in communication with the atmosphere. The smaller piston presses with its end face designed as a sealing surface against a valve seat arranged on a movable piston, which forms the inlet of a condensate collecting space, the piston being acted upon by a compression spring on the side facing away from the stepped piston.
The outlet of the condensate collection space is formed by a stationary valve seat, against which a sealing piston is pressed, which is acted upon by a compression spring on its side facing away from the condensate collection space, which is located in a space that is connected to the atmosphere. Taking advantage of the
