Saatgutbehandlungsmittel
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
B. Kaolin, Talkum, natürliche und synthetische Kieselsäure, Attapulgit u. a. Tone in Betracht.
Geeignete Lösungsmittel bzw. flüssige Verschnittmittel sind z. B. Alkohole, Ketone, Dimethylformamid, Dimethylsulfoxyd, Wasser, aliphatische und aromatische Kohlenwasserstoffe u. a.
B. Neufuchsin u. a.

Seed treatment agents
The invention relates to seed treatment compositions which contain new carboxylic acid hydrazides.
For the control of parasitic fungi on seeds, mercury-containing active ingredients or universal dressings are predominantly used in practice, but these have the disadvantage of being highly toxic. Organic fungicides such as B. tetramethylthiuram disulfide (TMTD) and N-trichloromethylthio-4-cyclohexene-1,2-dicarboximide (captan), in contrast, have a significantly lower toxicity, but do not always have a satisfactory effect.
It has also already become known that agents containing compounds of the general formula
EMI1.1
in which R is an alkyl radical with 5 to 9 carbon atoms and X and Y, which can be identical or different, are hydrogen, methyl or chlorine, are very good fungicides with action against powdery mildew fungi (German Auslegeschrift 1199540). An effect of these agents against parasitic fungi on the seed is not stated for these active ingredients.
It has now been found that with seed treatment agents, the one or more compounds of the general formula
EMI1.2
contain, in which X and Y are identical or different and are hydrogen, chlorine or the nitro group and R are vinyl, n-butyl, or - if X are the nitro group and Y are hydrogen - n-amyl, the disadvantages mentioned above are avoided.
The agents according to the invention are z. B. against cereal diseases of the species Fusarium, Helminthosporium and Ustilago, among other things, very effective and surpass tetramethylthiuram disulfide or N-trichloromethylthio-4-cyc1ohexen -1, 2 - dicarboximide in this regard. This effect could not be predicted. In addition, the specified carboxylic acid hydrazides are not burdened with the toxicity risk characteristic of active ingredients containing mercury, which is a particular advantage
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
part represents; The new seed treatment agents according to the invention moreover meet the higher requirements with regard to low toxicity made on agents used in agriculture today.
The new active ingredients for the seed treatment compositions according to the invention can be prepared by methods known per se, eg. B. by reacting the correspondingly substituted phenylhydrazines with the corresponding carboxylic acids or their functional derivatives, such as halides, anhydrides or esters, conveniently in the presence of water-binding agents, acid acceptors or catalysts according to the following scheme
EMI2.1
wherein Z z. B. represents the groups OH, O-alkyl, OCOR or a halogen atom and X, Y and R have the meaning given above.
The agents according to the invention can be used alone or as mixtures with one another and / or with other crop protection agents, e.g. B. insecticides are applied.
It is expediently used in a manner customary for a seed treatment agent, in dry or liquid form with the addition of solid and / or liquid diluents or carriers and optionally adhesives, wetting agents, emulsifying agents and / or dispersing agents.
The preparation of the agents is expediently carried out in one of the forms customary for seed treatment agents using solid or liquid carriers or diluents and the possible addition of surface-active substances and / or dyes.
As solid by-products come z. B. kaolin, talc, natural and synthetic silica, attapulgite u. a. Tone into consideration.
Suitable solvents or liquid diluents are, for. B. alcohols, ketones, dimethylformamide, dimethyl sulfoxide, water, aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons and the like. a.
Suitable surface-active substances include lignin sulfonic acids and their salts, alkylated benzenesulfonic acids and their salts, sulfonated acid amides and their salts, polyethoxylated amines, alcohols and phenols and their sulfates.
Suitable dyes are those that give the dressed seeds a clearly visible color, such as. B. Neufuchsin u. a.
The proportion of the active ingredient in the seed treatment agent according to the invention can expediently be 10 to 75% by weight, in particular 20 to 50% by weight of the agent. The exact concentration of the active ingredient used for the agent depends mainly on the amount in which the agent is to be used to treat the seed.
The following test examples illustrate the excellent action of the agents according to the invention against parasitic fungi on the seeds in comparison to commercially available agents (tetramethylthiuram disulfide, N-trichloromethylthio-4-cyclohexene-1,2-dicarboximide).
The active ingredient was used as a 20% emulsion or solution or as a 50% dry stain.
