Für die Herstellung des Gewölbes wird kein hochfeuerfestes, teueres Material benötigt, und das Gewölbe kann gesondert gefertigt werden, da es selbsttragend ist. Die zur Verteilung der Luft dienenden Rohre tragen die Schamottesteine nach der Fig. 1. Auch die Montage beansprucht eine einfachere und kürzer dauernde Arbeit, weil die Gewölbeprofile stückweise in die oben auf den Seitenwänden vorhandenen Sandabschlüsse eingehoben werden können.
Der erfindungsgemässe Industrieofen kann auch dann verwendet werden, wenn an der einen Seite z. B. Luft, an der andern Seite ein Gas wechselweise in den Leitungskanälen-2a-des Gewölbes zugeführt wird.

Gewölbe durchziehende, parallel zum Gewölbe verlaufende Kanäle (2a) für die Zufuhr von Luft oder brennbarem Gas bilden, welche zwecks Ausbildung des Gewölbes als selbsttragende Einheit gegebenenfalls durch Metallrohre ausgekleidet sind, und dass von diesen Kanälen (2a) in den Ofenraum mündende Kanäle abzweigen, die ebenfalls durch Nuten benachbarter Steine gebildet sind.
