Description

   <Desc/Clms Page number 1>

  Schweisspulver für das Unterpulverschweissverfahren
 EMI1.1

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

   The invention is based on the surprising finding that the known ideas are incorrect and must lead to a disadvantageous influence on the quality of the welded material.

   According to the invention, it is therefore proposed to use welding powder for the submerged arc welding process, the phosphorus and sulfur contents of which do not exceed 0.010% each.

   If at the same time it is ensured that base and filler materials are used, the phosphorus and sulfur contents of which are also below the maximum limits specified for the powder, the toughness values of the weld metal, in particular the notched impact strength, can be achieved with otherwise the same composition compared to normal sulfur - and phosphorus contents in the weld metal can be increased considerably. Contents of around 0.015 to 0.025% each would be considered normal. to watch.

   The use of welding powders according to the invention has also proven to be valuable in the production of welded joints on base materials with normal impurities and when using similar filler metals, because it surprisingly results in a weld metal whose sulfur and phosphorus contents are lower than that would correspond to the expected, theoretically determinable weld metal composition. Investigations of the welding slag have shown that in such cases there is an accumulation of phosphorus and sulfur in the welding slag compared to the phosphorus and sulfur contents in the welding powder, whereby these observations are not limited to powders with specific compositions or with a specific chemical character.
