Pesticides
It is known to use copper compounds such as copper carbonate, copper oxychloride, copper oxide and. a. to use as fungicides to combat Phytophtora, Cercospora, Fusicladium, Peronospora and other fungal diseases. However, the amount of copper compounds used is quite high.
In practice, for example, a 1 hectare potato field requires 2.5-5.0 kg of copper oxychloride or 1.2-2.4 kg of copper oxide for a single spray.
It is also known that chromium, nickel or manganese compounds have no fungicidal properties worth mentioning.
According to the German old application S 158740 IVa / 451 z. For example, micro-amounts of manganese salts that are easily soluble in water are claimed as micronutrients as an additive to copper compounds in order to make plants more resistant to diseases. That way. the copper content can be lowered.
It has now been found that small amounts of chromium, manganese and nickel compounds, which are sparingly soluble in water, in combination with fungicidally active copper compounds trigger extremely high fungicidal effects. The amount of chromium, nickel and manganese compounds added is between 1 and 25% of the copper compound added. According to the previous application S 158740 IVa / 45 l, however, easily water-soluble salts are claimed, u. in micron quantities as micronutrients. With a metal salt which is sparingly soluble in water and which is claimed by the present invention, no synergism arises with these micro-amounts, which proves that the mechanism of action between the easily soluble in water and the sparingly soluble metal salts is completely different.
In addition, water-soluble metal salts are a source of uncertainty as they can easily be washed off by rain.
The combinations of the present invention make it possible to save large amounts of copper compounds. Another advantage is that overdosing does not damage the leaves.
The growth problems known when large amounts of fungicidally active copper compounds are used cannot occur with the present invention, since the amounts of copper applied to the plants are too small.
The reason for this unexpected increase in effectiveness is to be seen in the fact that the chromium, nickel and manganese compounds activate the copper compounds extremely, i. H. that they work synergistically.
If, according to the present invention, a combination of z. B. copper oxychloride and manganese sulphide, as laboratory and field tests have shown, only 900 g copper oxychloride = 520 g metallic copper per hectare.
A modern copper spray requires at least 2.5 kg of copper oxychloride = 1.45 kg of metallic copper per hectare.
