Österreichische PATENTSCHRIFT N 19069. FRANZ HAMEDINCER IN SUROCHOW UND SAMUEL RAUCH
IN JAROSLAU.

Austrian PATENT LETTER N 19069. FRANZ HAMEDINCER IN SUROCHOW AND SAMUEL RAUCH
IN JAROSLAU.
Automatic coupling for railway cars.
The subject matter of the present invention is a railway coupling which is automatically coupled when the cars are pushed together and can be uncoupled again from the outside of the car by rotating a rod. In addition, this coupling is set up in such a way that it can also be used together with a coupling of the old system.
In the drawing, FIG. 1 shows the coupling in a side view, FIG. 2 shows the same in a top view, FIG. 3 shows the coupling at the moment of uncoupling, FIGS. 4 to 6 show details of the coupling in front and side views
The coupling is like the previous one, attached to the two end walls of the car in the middle of the lower crossbeam between the buffers, in such a way that the U-shaped coupling frame 1 by means of a crosspiece 2 arranged on the same with the tie rod 3 of the car a bolt 4 is rotatably connected about a vertical axis.
By means of springs 28 arranged on both sides, the coupling is always turned back in the direction of the carriage axis. A bracket 29 attached to the rear part of the frame on the pull rod, in which the frame is movable in the horizontal direction, prevents the frame from lifting off the pull rod. In the frame 1, a rod 5 is rotatably mounted, which extends over the entire width of the Car extends and is provided with a square 6 at each of their ends. A double-armed lever 7 (shown particularly in FIG. 4) is attached to this rod on each side of the frame. One arm 8 of this lever is formed at its end into a round head 9, while the other arm 10 has a knee 11 is provided and bent at its end to form a hook 12.
A counterweight 2i fixed on the rod 5 at the end of a lever tends to rotate the lever 7 outward. Between the two legs of the frame 1, another double-armed lever 13 (shown in particular in FIG. 5) is loosely rotatably arranged on the rod 5. One arm 14 of this lever is at its end with an

a cross bar 17 is arranged. A rotation axis 18 on which the fork 19 is rotatably mounted is also attached to the frame 1. This fork is sharpened at its front edge to prevent the cars from colliding when they are pushed together
Avoid forks of both couplings. The rear extension of the fork is formed into a bracket 20 which engages around the rod 5 and through it
Insertion of a bolt 21 can be connected.
In order to safely feed the fork to the coupling hook 14, a pin funnel 22 is arranged on the front frame 1. At the hub of the rear end of the base part J, the drop flap 24 is arranged rotatably about an axis 23, and a plate 2 at its front end 5 is attached. On both sides. pins 26 are arranged near the end of the drop flap.
In the uncoupled state, the double-armed lever 13 is in the position shown in dotted lines in FIG. 3, that is to say the coupling hook 14 rests with its stop surface 1, 5 on the axis of rotation 18; Furthermore, the drop flap 24 is supported by the plate 25

EMI2.1
the hook 12 located at the end of the lever 10 protects the drop flap 24 from the upward movement caused by the vibration while driving.
As soon as the fork 19 is fed through the funnel 22 when a car equipped with the same coupling approaches, the fork 19 first pushes against the lever arm 16, as a result rotates the double-armed lever 13, whereby the coupling hook 14 comes into an upright position and hiebei against the plate 25 pushes, this lifts with the drop flap 24 and after snapping it off with his.
The stop face 15 places against the drop flap 24 from the inside. The transverse rod 17 arranged at the end of the lever arm 16, which comes to rest on the frame 1, prevents further rotation of the lever 13. The drop flap, which has fallen back into its rest position after the coupling hook 14 has been snapped off, is now supported by the lever 10, which as a result of the counterweight 27 rotates with its knee 11 in front of the pin 26, prevents the upward movement and an automatic release of the coupling is thus excluded.
If the coupling is now to be released, the rod 5 is rotated inwards by approximately a quarter turn after placing a key on one of the square 6 of the same. As a result, the lever 10 releases the pin 26 and the lever 8 lifts the plate 25 with the drop flap 24. The latter now comes out of contact with the coupling hook 14 and as soon as the two carriages are removed from each other, the fork 19 takes the coupling hook 14 with and turns it back into the position corresponding to the uncoupled state.
If the coupling is to be connected to one of the old system, it is only necessary, after pulling out the bolt 21, to rotate the fork 19 downwards about the axis 18, as indicated by dotted lines in FIG. The chain ring of the old coupling is then pushed over the coupling hook 14 and then in a vertical position
Positioned in which it lies with its stop surface 15 against the drop flap 24.
PATENT CLAIMS:
1.Automatic coupling for railroad cars, in which a double lever (13) rotatable on a rod (5) is threatened when the coupling eye (19) is fed into such a position that the arm of this double lever designed as a coupling hook (14) is in an upright position Coupling eye (1.
9) detects the position in which it is secured by a rotatable drop flap (24), characterized in that after closing the
Coupling by means of a counterweight (27) a lever (10) attached to the rod (5) detects with its knee (11) a pin (26) attached to the drop flap and in this way the upward rotation of the drop flap and thus an automatic release of the coupling prevented.
