Sighting device for guns standing behind cover.
The subject of the present invention is a sighting device for guns standing behind cover, in particular heavy and machine guns.
In the drawing, FIGS. 1 and 2 are side views seen from the right and left.
Fig. 3 is an end view of a portion of the present device and Fig. 4 shows, on a smaller scale, the sighting device attached to a machine gun. a is a tube equipped with a collar b at the upper end and two pins c hearus protrude from the collar and rest in bearings d in a ring e. The ring is wearing

to determine the device. Along the tube a is a second tube 11 at the lower end thereof, the lower end of which is equipped with a prism i (or a mirror).
Inside the upper part of the tube a slides a second tube j, (which at the upper end also carries a prism k or a mirror. S is the upper one

The rack o in the tube j is inclined or curved in such a way that when the tube j is lifted by means of the button n and the drive 8 in order to bring the optical center point of the lens into the target line going through Korn and Abschen, the ear sentence a , i, j is also rotated at the same time around the pin c with respect to the gun so that the optical axis of the lens falls into the target line. It is thus with every

To bring the device to exactly coincide with the target line and the target will appear together with the front sight and attachment incision exactly in the crosshairs of the eyepiece y or between the tips of the same. The two reticles are used to adjust the device during normal use.
Since, however, after the adjustment of the barrel and the associated rotation of the device around the pin c, the target will only appear in the crosshairs of the eyepiece when the gun is in the required height direction, after these adjustments have been made, the gun is needed regardless of the attachment and Raise the front sight until the target falls into the crosshairs of the eyepiece to be sure that the gun is in the required direction of elevation. In other words, with the aid of the present device, the gun can be given the correct height direction even if the two reticles of the gun are missing.
However, such a setting of the device requires greater attention and it is then advisable to make a mark in the middle of the hypotenuse surface of the prism k or in the mirror used instead of the same in order to observe more closely how the target enters the crosshair.
If the device is designed as a telescope, d. i. If the extension tube u contains an objective and the extension tube y an ocular lens, after the adjustment of the device as just described, depending on the distance from the target, the eyepiece must be adjusted to the objective of the focal length of the latter, and this is done by moving the tube along the tube a.
