Electric carbon tube furnace for annealing in a protective gas atmosphere or in a vacuum.
Electric carbon tube furnaces with tubes attached to the carbon tube on both sides for pushing in and out the annealing material are often used for annealing in a protective gas atmosphere or in a vacuum. When annealing in a protective gas atmosphere, the material is usually pushed evenly through the furnace, whereas when annealing in a vacuum the furnace can only be opened after it has completely cooled down, so that only intermittent operation is possible.
For the continuous pushing of the molten metal through the furnace operated with protective gas, the furnace space can be sealed against the surrounding atmosphere by gas-tight locks at the inlet and outlet ends; Thus, by appropriate control of the feed, the opening and closing of the locks and the flushing of the antechamber, the entry of air or foreign gases can be prevented. Difficulties arise with the sealing of the contact glands, which have to be readjusted in the company.
These difficulties can be avoided according to the invention in a simple way that the tubes R and R 1 for the insertion and removal of the annealing material, the contact glands B and B 1 with hood-shaped extensions A arranged above their opening into the carbon tube (0) and A 1 reach over and connect gas-tight to the furnace; The contact glands can then be readjusted during operation by means of screws S and 51, which are led to the outside in a gas-tight manner.
This makes it possible in the first place, in connection with vacuum-tight locks, to anneal using the push-through process in a vacuum.
