Car bodies for vehicles, in particular for motor vehicles.
The invention relates to vehicles, particularly vehicles with a streamlined body that covers the chassis and wheels, and the like. The invention consists in that the car body has the widest point in the area of the rear wheels and that the resulting deterioration in the streamline shape due to the relatively sudden tapering of the vehicle body is compensated for in the following way:
In the lower, rearwardly tapering parts of the side walls of the vehicle body, rearward-facing slots known per se are made immediately behind its widest point.
Air that is introduced further forward, for example at the point of the greatest width of the vehicle body, into the interior of which is introduced, is guided to the outside through these slots. This air supply effectively prevents an interruption of the flow process at the strongly tapered point, so that even with a relatively strong shortening of the hectare part overlying the rear wheels, an eddy-free drainage will take place with the least resistance. Since the air flow sweeping past the slots results in a strong negative pressure in the interior parts of the vehicle body connected to the slots, the vehicle interior is also effectively ventilated.
In the drawing, the subject matter of the invention is illustrated schematically, for example, u. Between FIG. 1 shows a vehicle designed according to the invention in plan, FIG. 2 shows a side view thereof, and FIG. 3 shows a front view of the vehicle according to FIGS. 1 and 2.
According to FIG. 1, in the plan view, the main body 5 is designed so wide at its rear end 6 that it completely covers the rear wheels 7. Immediately behind the rear wheels 7, the side wall 8 of the body is strongly drawn in, so that an approximately triangular rear 6 with a rounded tip results. The front wheels 9, on the other hand, protrude freely from the main body 5, and fender-like depressions 10 are now attached to the main body, which cover the wheels 9 and form the line of intersection 11 with the main body 5.
The greatest narrowing of the streamlines, i.e. the greatest speed of the flow, is in zone i-B, and the design of the stern described above ensures a vortex-free flow of the flow.
At the same time, this design results in the following advantages in terms of vehicle ventilation:
The stagnation point at the front of the car is concentrated in zone C-D. From this point of greatest pressure, for example, cooling air for the engine can be drawn off and fed to the radiator. The discharge opening of this diverted flow is now to be directed into a zone of the rear part where there is a strong negative pressure. Such a zone is the side wall 8 of the stern 6. If, therefore, outflow strands 14 are attached to this side wall 8 of the stern 6, a particularly strong pressure gradient will prevail between zone C-D and these outflow strands.
At the same time, however, the supply of new flow energy at this point will effectively prevent an interruption of the flow process, so that even with a relatively strong shortening of the rear part overbuilding the rear wheels, an eddy-free drainage will take place with the least resistance.
Instead of tapping the cooling air in the front part in zone C-D, the air flow can advantageously be deflected where there is the greatest density of streamlines, i.e. the greatest speed, e.g. in zone E-F on the upper side part of the body, etc. between approximately in the form of adjustable flaps 15 with a forward facing opening. This arrangement offers the great advantage that dust-

Free air is drawn off and at the same time the strong narrowing of the streamlines at this point is reduced. This arrangement is particularly important in vehicles with the engine in the rear. The taps for the cooling air can be controlled automatically by thermostats.
In the side view in Fig. 2, the downward transition of the carriage surface 16 to the side walls is clearly visible, as well as the retracted side walls 8 of the rear 6 with the discharge slots 14 for the cooling air.
