Unterputzdose.
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

Flush box.
The invention relates to a wall box for concealed installation with a means
Screws attached to the outside of the box cover or cover ring, which usually also serves as a carrier for the installation device. With these cans, on the one hand, in order to achieve a tight fit of the lid, the lid must be pulled down firmly onto the edge of the can by means of its fastening screws. On the other hand, the cover must be flush with the wall plaster in the final position, otherwise the cover plate made of glass, synthetic resin or the like cannot be properly attached.
If the box sits deeper than prescribed in the wall, as is often the case when a hole is made in the wall that is too deep or when the plaster is applied too thickly, then the two conditions cannot be easily met. A remedy is then usually to artificially enlarge the can lid using pressed chipboard or the like underneath and pull it down onto the plaster wall instead of the can rim. This aid is not only cumbersome, but also often not applicable because the fastening screws of the cover are not long enough.
In the case of the wall socket for concealed installation with a screw-fastened lid or lid ring, which forms the subject of the invention, the deficiency is eliminated in that the lid is no longer attached directly to the socket, but that special fastening means adjustable in the height direction of the socket are provided for its attachment . A ring or collar guided telescopically in the can can preferably be used to fasten the lid, which is advantageously adjustable in the axial direction of the can with the aid of at least two adjusting screws which can be screwed into the inner projections of the can wall and are coupled to the collar in both directions.
If the can sits too deep in the wall, the collar only needs to be moved more or less far out of the can by turning the adjusting screws, whereupon the lid can be properly attached, namely screwed onto the collar so that it sits firmly on the collar edge and at the same time is flush with the wall plaster. If necessary, the collar can be adjusted after the lid ring or lid has already been attached to the can, since the adjusting screws are accessible from the front through openings in the lid or lid ring.
If the can has obtained the correct position from the start, then an adjustment of the collar is not necessary, the collar rather remains in its rest position in which its edge is at the same height as the can edge.
The collar may have some play in the can so that it is possible to tilt it by adjusting the screws unevenly. In this way it is possible to compensate for any inclined position of the can in addition to a position that is too deep. It is advisable to attach the protrusions of the socket wall containing the nut bores for the set screws close to the bottom of the box and to make the collar or the lugs provided for coupling the same with the screws so long that the set screws are always below the live metal parts of the installation apparatus lie. It is then definitely prevented that the collar and thus the cover ring become live.
The subject of the invention is shown in an exemplary embodiment in the drawing. 1 shows a top view of the new wall socket, with the cover ring also being drawn in in the right half, FIG. 2 shows a vertical section along the line A-A in FIG. 1, with the collar
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
is partially pushed out of the box in the right half, Fig. 3 shows a longitudinal section through the collar alone along the line A-B of Fig. 1. a is a round flush-mounted box made of insulating material, for example synthetic resin, of the usual dimensions. A cylindrical ring or collar b is telescopic in the can, but is guided with some play.
The collar can also consist of insulating material, but also of sheet metal and, in the inserted state, extends to the upper edges of four inner projections c of the can wall provided in close proximity to the bottom. The collar b is cut out at its lower part in such a way that only four lobe-shaped parts b ′ of the collar remain here. This prevents the collar from covering the insertion openings for the supply lines (not shown in the drawing) provided in the can wall. The projections c of the can wall each contain a nut bore into which an adjusting screw d provided with a flat head can be screwed. The
EMI2.1
Have edge in order to create a larger bearing surface for the screw heads.
The screw heads d have little or no play between the upper and lower edges of the slots, so that in this way the screws d and the collar b are inevitably coupled both in the upward and in the downward direction, and the collar thus must follow all movements of the screw heads. It is thus possible by turning the screws d to push the collar out of the can as far as desired and to pull it back into the can, the collar being fixed in any position.
On the upper edge of the collar b, four inwardly directed projections or tabs g are provided, each of which contains a nut hole h. The nut bores 11 serve to hold the retaining screws i of the cover or Deekel ring? c. The lid is therefore not screwed directly to the can a, but rather to the collar b which is adjustable in the can.
If the can a is properly seated in the wall, the collar b is pulled completely into the can so that the cover ring k fastened to the collar b by means of the screws i can be pulled down directly onto the can rim. If, on the other hand, the can is positioned too deeply in the wall, the collar b is pushed out of the can with the aid of the adjusting screws d and the lid k is then pulled down onto the edge of the collar with the aid of its screws. In any case, the lid is firmly seated, while at the same time it comes to lie flush with the wall plaster.
If this box has been attached at an angle, the collar b can be set at an opposite angle by uneven adjustment of the screws d and thus adjusted so that its edge is parallel to the wall surface. The adjustment of the collar b is not only possible before, but also after the cover k has been attached. This is because the screws d are accessible from the front through the openings regularly provided in the cover or through the cover ring. If necessary, the opening edge of the cover ring can also have special bulges for easy access to the adjusting screws d, as can be seen in FIG. 1 at m.
The installation apparatus'1'1, the z. B. a rotary, toggle or pressure switch, a plug device or the like. Is usually seated on the cover ring k, to which it is fastened by means of two supports o and screws drawn in therein. If necessary, the installation device can also be attached to the adjustable collar b independently of the cover or cover ring, for which purpose appropriate precautions can be taken in that the collar has, for example, two inwardly directed tabs or webs for fastening the installation device.
The invention is not restricted to the example shown; rather, various modifications are possible. The number of adjusting screws d for the collar could also be different from that shown in the drawing. B. three or even only two adjusting screws can be provided. In addition to flush-mounted boxes made of insulating material, the invention can also be used with metal boxes lined with insulating material (lead boxes) and, in addition to round boxes, it can also be used with square boxes.
