Description

Method for dressing animal fibers, especially hair and. like for felt production.

The subject of the parent patent no. 133715 is a process for dressing animal fibers, especially hair and the like. Like. For felt production, in which, as in the known processes, pickling is carried out with metal salts and nitric acid, but in the presence of oxidizing agents, which can act on their own in addition to nitric acid and which are expediently at least not impaired by the nitric acid or in acidic solution are such as chlorates, perchlorates, permanganates, chromates, iodates, persulfates, etc. The effect of these oxidizing agents is multiple.

On the one hand, the presence of nitric acid counteracts the formation of nitrous acid from the nitric acid, which makes the stronger oxidizing effect of nitric acid undiminished on the hair; on the other hand, it allows the use of oxidants that can act without discoloration, such as. B. remove the chlorates, the yellowing or yellowing of the hair.

The present invention is based on the discovery that when this method is carried out, an addition of acids, such as. B. sulfuric acid or acidic substances for pickling, which form insoluble reaction products or precipitates, is a means to avoid the formation of such precipitates from the outset or to prevent them through solution.

The invention enables on the one hand, in addition to nitric acid, oxidizing agents, which have a discoloring effect on the fiber due to the formation of precipitates, without discoloration of the fiber, such. B. permanganates, on the other hand, to make metal salts, which tend to form insoluble products, at such nitric acid concentrations and in such amounts that they would otherwise form precipitates.
