Description

    Can opener.

Can openers are already known in which a support hook engaging under the edge of the can interacts with a knife, as well as those in which a metal strip is bent over like a hook at one end and at this end has a knife edge which is pressed against the lower can edge Legends, formed from the same or a second metal strip support cooperates.
However, these known can openers must be handled in such a way that the handle is moved back and forth close to the can jacket surface or is pushed upwards. They also cannot be used to make a tangential incision in the edge of the can, but rather merely a more radial incision.

With the can opener according to the invention, these disadvantages are avoided, since this opener is placed on the cover of the can from above and then a tangential incision is made in the can cover by pressing down the end of the handle.

The can opener shown in side view in Figure 1 consists of a hook-shaped bent iron strip a, to which a knife b made of sheet steel is attached; Fig. 2 shows the opener in a front view; 3 in the position of use. To open a can, the opener is placed on the edge of the can in such a way that the hook-shaped end engages under the outer edge of the can and the row of knives is supported by the inner edge on the can lid (Fig. 3, c). By pressing down the end of the handle, the can lid is cut tangentially at the very edge. This is how you cut next to cut until the entire circumference of the lid is cut through. The can opener is attached to the side of each can with a metal clip (Fig. 3, d).
