  Gas iron.

In a known gas iron, the soleplate is provided with herringbone-shaped extensions (Heiziippen) serving for heat transfer and a burner tube is arranged in the space between the ribs, through the openings of which the individual gas flames emerge.

According to the invention, the ribs, which are likewise arranged in the shape of a herringbone, delimit a duct which tapers towards the front and narrows towards the top, into which the burning heating gases, which arise in a burner arranged outside the duct, flow. At this

Flame brushes the heating ribs and the combustion air is not hindered as it passes through the iron through a burner tube.

seen in the direction of the arrow, with the cover plate attached.

At the top of the iron bottom 1, two rows of ribs 2 are arranged, which are herringbone-like inclined to one another and delimit channels 3 that open into side channels which lead through openings 5 of the iron side wall 6 into the open at the front. In the longitudinal center of the iron, the ribs 2 enclose a shaft 7 which extends conically upwards and forwards and into which the gas flame is introduced through the opening 8 of the iron. Hiebei the gas flame hits the projecting ribs 2 and flows divided into the channels. 3 (see arrows). When the heating flame or heating gases pass through the channels 3, the ribs 2 and through them the bottom 1 of the iron are heated to an evenly high degree, the utilization of the gas being complete.

Due to the known arrangement of lateral air passage openings, for example in the deck
