So that the rollers 24, 25 also in the pivoted position of the lever 12 with a generating line of their peripheral surface on the slides J! C or j! 7 are in contact, they are mounted on spherical thickenings 27 of the lever.
A plurality of clutch disks 1 corresponding to the number of speed levels are assigned to the speed transmission, which are arranged at a distance from one another and whose brake bands 2 each interact with one of the lever mechanisms described. The widened slots 26 'are designed and provided at such locations that the individual levers 12 can only be pivoted gradually and in a specific sequence.
The operation of the switching device is as follows: As a result of the small frictional force acting between the clutch disc 1 and the brake band 2 even when the brake band is not tensioned, the disc 1 tries to take the brake band 2 with it, but this is achieved by the lever secured against pivoting due to the slot 26 of the control slide 17 12 is prevented.
If a certain speed level is to be switched on, the slide 18 is moved by hand or by an auxiliary device in such a way that the extension 26 ′ assigned to the corresponding level reaches the associated roller 24. Depending on the direction of rotation of the clutch disc, the brake band and thus also the bracket 5, which pivots the lever 12 and pushes against the widened slot 26 'of the control

binding with the web of the bracket 5 and pivoted about their bolts 20. The ends 28 of the levers C, 7 make a greater pivoting path than the bracket and its arms. If, for example, the bracket 5 moves downwards, the bolt 3 is lowered to the same extent.
The lever 7, the end of which 28 is moved to a greater extent, takes the bolt 4 with it, whereby the brake band is tensioned according to the difference in the paths of the bolt 3 and 4 and the clutch disc is braked and the corresponding stage is switched on. The end 28 of the lever 6, which is also moved to a greater extent. slides downward on bolt 3 without affecting it.
The nut 11 of the bolt 4 stands out from the collar 10. In a similar way, braking and switching on of the speed level takes place with the clutch disc 1 running in the opposite direction, only the movements of levers 6 and 12 are opposite.
The control slots of the control slide 17 are designed in such a way that all clutches can be switched off when it is moved.
The switching device allows different designs of the lever arrangement. Thus, instead of the bracket 5, two levers could be arranged which are pivoted at the same time as the levers 6, 7 and whose points acting on the brake band execute smaller pivoting paths.
Instead of the control slide 16, 17, other sound organs can also be used,
