Process for the production of white cement from colored, e.g. B. ferrous
Raw materials.
The invention relates to a process for the production of white cement from colored, e.g. B. iron-containing raw materials, after which the raw materials, optionally with the addition of coke or reducing agents, burns reducing in a known manner, the resulting clinker crushed and the metallic iron removed by a known separation.
The invention consists in that the crushed and iron-free clinker obtained by this known method is oxidized in the presence of air, oxygen or oxidizing agents.
The new method has the advantage over the familiar that it can be easily applied to old raw materials whose iron content is large or small.
For example, the usual cement raw materials are sintered or melted in a mixture with 6% coke in a rotary kiln. When a temperature of 700 to 9000 C is reached, the iron oxides are reduced to metal in the resulting carbon dioxide atmosphere, which remains in the clinker obtained in the form of fine flakes or globules. After the clinker has been comminuted, the metal parts are read out with the aid of a magnet and then, according to the invention, the powdered clinker mass is heated for about half an hour to about 500 ° C. with admission of air. Any excess coke that may be present burns up, and the calcium sulphide produced by the sulfur admixtures in the fuel is converted into harmless gypsum.
Of course, flux can also be added to the cement raw materials to reduce the sintering temperature.
