Description

Pan for hot-dip galvanizing.
It is known that during hot-dip galvanizing, the molten zinc in the ladle forms an iron-zinc alloy (hard zinc) with the iron material of the ladle. This has the disadvantage that the wall of the pan is attacked; there is also a back
EMI1.1
arises.
According to the proposal of the present invention, a coating of aluminum oxide is now applied to the inside of the galvanizing pan. This aluminum oxide layer can be produced by heating an aluminum layer applied to the inside of the galvanizing pan before the galvanizing pan is used. The surface of the aluminum layer is thus provided with a firmly adhering protective aluminum oxide layer. The aluminum layer can be applied to the wall of the pan, for example, by spraying, whereupon the surface of the aluminum layer is oxidized after the wall has been heated. The resulting aluminum oxide coating can be strengthened by spraying the heated wall with aluminum again.
This measure results in a significant reduction in the formation of hard zinc.
