Engage gear 47 which is mounted on a short shaft 48. The end of the shaft protrudes from the housing and carries a crank 49 by means of which the machine is wound. During this operation, the springs 42 and 44 are pulled up and the pistons 6 and 11 are lowered in the cylinders 5 and 10 as a result of the engagement of the gear 14 in the rack 13. On the shaft 43 sits a gear 50 which meshes with a gear 52 on a shaft 51 (FIG. 6).
This shaft carries a gear 53 which meshes with a gear 54 on a shaft 5; '). The latter carries cranks or eccentrics 27 which act on the pistons 29. The shaft 55 works on a transmission and drives the spindle 31
EMI3.1
The gear wheel 52 is connected to the shaft 51 by means of a ratchet device in such a way that, when the machine is wound by means of the crank 49, it is decoupled from the shaft, while otherwise it is coupled to it. A suction valve 3Ja is arranged between cylinder 10 and line 35.
In this embodiment, the machine works in the following way: By turning the crank 49, the springs 42 and 44 are tensioned and, as a result of the engagement of the gear 14 in the rack 1. 1, the pistons (j and 11 are in their initial positions in the cylinders 5 and 10. The machine is then started in the manner described above The magnitude of the pressure from the container 2 is increased by the pressure of the springs 42 and 44 which is transmitted to the gear 14, the rack 13 and the piston rod 12. When the springs expand, the pump device 29 is activated to act on the teat cups in the manner described above The machine can also be wound up by operating the rod 12, for example by a crank.
This embodiment offers the advantage that it can be used in the same way for heavily and lightly milking animals. In the latter case only one of the drive means (springs or air pressure) is required, in the former case, however, both means can be used. The total driving force can be regulated by regulating the pressure of the air and the springs or one of these means.
