Pliers for producing rivet heads on contact pins of the leaf springs of spring sets for relays or the like.
The invention relates to upsetting pliers for the production of rivet heads on contact pins of the leaf springs of contact spring sets for relays or the like. The aim of the invention is to rivet replaced contact pins of the contact spring sets. To create a tool that allows riveting without removing the contact springs from the contact spring set. According to the invention, this is achieved in that one or both jaws of the pliers are provided with a recess receiving the rivet head of the pin to be riveted, with the jaws being so flat that the pliers can be easily inserted into the spring set, if avoided impermissible bending of neighboring contact springs.
The drawing illustrates an embodiment of the pliers in FIG. 1 in side view.
Fig. 2 shows the application of the pliers to a contact spring set. Fig. 3 shows the front part of the pliers on an enlarged scale in connection with the contact pin to be fastened in a leaf spring. Fig. 4 also shows on an enlarged scale the front part of the pliers with an interposed contact spring in a different design of the pliers jaws.
The jaws 1 and 2 of the pliers are of flat design, tapering towards their front end, so that the pliers can easily be inserted by hand between the springs of a contact spring set without any further assistance. The lower jaw 2 of the pliers is provided with a recess 4 for receiving the rivet head already present on the contact pin 6 so as not to damage it when the pressure exerted on the pin. When the pliers have been brought into the correct position in relation to the contact spring (FIG. 3), the head of the contact pin 6, which was previously introduced into the perforated leaf spring by means of tweezers or the like, is received by the recess 4 of the lower jaw 2 and the pin is firmly connected to the spring by pressing on the legs 5 of the pliers.
Should a head be attached to both ends of the rivet pin 6, will the upper jaw also receive? the pliers a recess 3, corresponding to the shape of the head to be produced (Fig. 4). The lower recess 4 serves to receive the already existing head of the rivet pin, while the upper recess on the jaw 1 is used to shape the rivet head to be produced at the upper end of the pin.
