Broom or the like with a removable, adjustable handle.
The invention relates to a broom or the like with a removable, adjustable handle. The bristle holder is exchangeable and adjustable on a bracket located at the end of the broomstick, which for this purpose is provided at its two resilient ends with lugs in which means provided on the bristle holder engage, the spring force being used for this connection.
It is already known, the releasable connection of the bristle holder with the bracket by resilient
To effect connecting parts, however, the means provided at the two ends of the bracket only had the purpose of producing the detachable connection between the parts, while in this connection the adjustment of the cleaning elements relative to the broomstick in any desired position was not possible. Many means have been proposed to enable this adjustment in any angular position of the bristle holder with respect to the broomstick, but none of them have achieved the purpose of allowing the cleaning elements to be changed with a single movement without hammer, screws, etc.
In general, means have been proposed which are unsuitable for the housewife to use alone without assistance because they consisted of gears, screws, rivets, etc., so that the housewife cannot easily move them.
According to the invention, these means are formed from polygonal lugs or pegs attached to the bracket, which engage in polygonal sleeves or sleeves provided on the bristle pad or the like, the blocking being supported by the pyramid shape of the polygonal walls and the spring pressure of the bracket ends becomes. The polygonal shape of the projections has the effect that a different angular position of the cleaning elements opposite the broomstick can be set for each surface of the polygonal body, so that the housewife is able to carry out this setting with a handle as required. In order to make the connection between the parts easier and safer, the polygonal lugs or pins and the corresponding sleeves are designed to be slightly pyramid-shaped.
In the drawing, an embodiment of the subject matter of the invention is shown partially in elevation in FIG. 1 and in plan view in FIG. 2. FIG. 3 is a section along the line 3-3 of FIG. 1 on an enlarged scale.
According to FIGS. 1-3, A is the broom handle and B is the bristle carrier with bristles 4 or the like that can be removed from the handle. C is the bracket on which the bristle carrier B is movably attached. The bracket C has resilient arms, so that the ends having polygonal pins 1 can be removed from the sheet metal sleeves 7, which are welded to the bristle carrier back J provided with bristles 4, by pressing the arms against one another. In this embodiment the bristle carrier is. 3 executed twice, with both arms being connected to one another at the ends 8 (Fig. 2).
The bracket C can with its handle A opposite the bristle carrier. Assume 3 different positions, depending on which side surfaces of the hexagon pin 1 are in engagement with the side surfaces of the sleeves.
