Graphit-Depolarisationsm asseplatte.

Graphite depolarization plate.
It is known to manufacture panels for elements by applying a layer of carbon, e.g. B. graphite, and a manganese dioxide layer can be combined by pressing together to form a single plate. This process has been carried out in such a way that the necessary stability and assembly strength are achieved by a pressed-in frame, e.g. B: made of cardboard. This manufacturing method is not suitable for mass production and, in particular, for series production, and the object of the invention is to achieve stability while eliminating the special frame to be inserted so that the panels can also be produced in a running series.
The drawing shows a cross-section through a plate produced, for example, according to the invention. The depolarization mass D, which consists of manganese dioxide, is first produced by filling it under a corresponding mold. A graphite mass G is poured onto it at the edges up to the required height and after removing the mold it is also poured over the upper surface of the depolarization mass. This loose embankment is then shaped in a known manner by pressing to form a uniform solid whole.
The stability of the structure can also be achieved by adding a binder to the graphite used to increase the conductivity of the brownstone depolarizer, which does not bond with the depolarizer and is insoluble in water. As such a binder, e.g. B. Rosin can be used; this is mixed with the additional graphite in powder form. By heating the mixture, the rosin particles are melted so that they surround the individual graphite particles like a shell. The mass produced in this way is pulverized and, in the dry state, added to the manganese dioxide used as a depolarizer. If the entire depolarization plate is then pressed while being heated, the rosin softens and creates an extremely strong and reliable bond to the depolarization mass.
Another possibility is to use plaster of paris (CaS04), which is added in powder form to the polarization compound. In the water that is used to moisten the depolarization mass, a negative catalyst, for. B. glue to solve, which delays too fast setting of the plaster, so that a convenient processing is possible.
