Method for influencing a light bundle.
The invention relates to a method for influencing a light bundle in order to achieve different light intensities by means of a Kerr element for distance photography or television.
The liquids that can be used as a dielectric in a Kerr element are the ones for

closely related. There arise z. B. difficulties caused by the fact that the insulation capacity of the liquid dielectric is reduced during operation. The invention now aims to create a method which ensures the purity and with it the highly insulating properties of the dielectric during the use of the Kerr element. According to the invention, this liquid is allowed to flow along the capacitor plates of the Kerr element. This makes it possible to keep the cell's dielectric constant during operation.
If desired, the liquid flowing out of the condenser can be subjected to a cleaning process and fed back to the condenser, so that a certain amount of the liquid circulates through the condenser. This process ensures a high degree of purity of the condenser fluid at all times and thus the greatest possible insulation capacity.
The drawing shows schematically a device by means of which the method according to the invention can be practiced.
A potential difference can be applied between the electrodes of a Kerr element with the aid of the lead wires 2. The element is connected to a vessel 4 by a tube 3 and to a cooling device 6 by another tube 5. The vessel 4 and the cooling device 6 are again connected to one another by a tube 7 so that they form a closed system with the Kerr element in which a suitable liquid, e.g. B. nitrobenzene is located. If now the vessel 4 in a suitable manner, for. B. heated by means of an electrical heating element 8 or by a flame,

Direction to start flowing regularly. The liquid can be circulated not only by heating but also by other means, e.g. B. can be achieved by using a small pump.
In the device 6, the temperature of the Kerr liquid is regulated by flowing water or another coolant. If a suitable cleaning agent is now contained in the vessel 4, this ensures that the flowing liquid always remains in a very pure state. Any suitable chemical or physical means can be used for cleaning, if necessary an electrostatic field can be used for this purpose.
