Device for making the water level visible.
In the case of steam boiler systems in operation, the water level indicator, especially the one on the upper boiler, e.g. B. when the water level drops suddenly, not always clearly enough observed from the heater, so that the keeper is then dependent on a control by the test taps attached to the boiler at different heights, if there is not a second water level indicator is located. However, as practice has shown in countless cases, all of these devices can fail, so that operational safety is by no means guaranteed.
The drawing illustrates an embodiment of an invention made to prevent the aforementioned evils. Fig. 1 shows the front view and Fig. 2 shows its partial vertical section in side view.
In this exemplary embodiment according to FIGS. 1 and 2, the upper boiler is denoted by a, the water level indicator by b and its two boiler connection pieces by c, d. The water level indicator b provided for control can be designed in the usual way, so that it shows the water level in the previous manner. In the illustrated embodiment, however, a bottom-upwardly narrowing nozzle e is arranged in its interior at the bottom, the upper open end of which is at the level of the normal water level mark and whose edge resting on the bottom of the indicator is provided with cutouts f.
As a result of the gradual narrowing of the cross-section, the heat buoyancy creates a great acceleration and flow speed of the water upwards until it is driven with a lively surge over the upper edge of the nozzle, sinking outside the nozzle to the bottom through the cut-outs t and then rises again into the nozzle, which is repeated as long as the water does not fall below the lowest level in the boiler or its highest level is not exceeded.
To better perceive the process, you can also use a luminous float in the water level indicator, e.g. B. od a phosphorescent ball. Like. Introduce, which can be clearly perceived in the water vortex. The prerequisite for the prescribed functioning is that the boiler connection with the water level indicator allows the water to circulate freely at all times.
