<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

In both women's and especially men's tailoring, when ironing the items of clothing, care must be taken that the moisture that is supplied to the surface to be ironed is quickly drawn out of the item of clothing after the ironing purpose has been achieved. There are up to this

Extraction housing, the bottom of which is formed by a press plate provided with openings. This suction housing is used in a z. B. connected to an electric fan leading suction line.
For use as a handset, the suction housing is appropriately given the shape of a brush.
In this embodiment, the device is particularly suitable when ironing with a hand iron. However, this form is also suitable for use in electrically or gas-heated ironing machines and presses. For the latter, the suction housing can also be mounted on swivel arms of the ironing machine or press, in such a way that the suction housing can be swiveled over and pressed onto the ironing material for use.
EMI1.3
Figs. 5-7 show the pivotable arrangement on ironing machines or presses.
In the embodiment for manual use shown by Fig. 1 in a longitudinal section and by Fig. 2 in a cross section, a is a brush-shaped suction housing which is provided with an expediently circumferential groove b for easier gripping. The base plate c forms a perforated or slotted press plate made of rustproof or heavily nickel-plated metal. At the top of the housing a is a suction nozzle d, to which a flexible suction line e leading to a fan is connected when the device is used. In order to close off dead spaces within the housing a, a funnel f can be inserted into it, which conveniently lies against a sealing ring g with a smaller opening at the top.
In the embodiment shown by Fig. 3 in a longitudinal section and by Fig. 4 in a plan, the suction housing a has, for example, the shape of a funnel or a pyramid, from the summit of which a hollow handle dl that can be connected to the suction line e branches backwards.
In the two embodiments according to FIGS. 1-4 intended for manual use, the device is pressed onto the still damp, ironed area during use with the perforated press plate c and the suction air flow is switched on. You can use the entire ironing area to be dried, if it is larger than the floor area. he of the housing a, treat the latter alternately from place to place with a knock on the surface.
If the suction fan used is electrically driven, the housing a can be used to automatically start and stop the electric motor used to drive the fan, e.g. B. as Fig. 1 and 2 shows, a contact button h can be connected, which usually keeps the circuit of the electric motor open and is in the grip field of the hand grasping the housing a that the push button is pressed inward when the housing is grasped
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
closes the circuit of the electric motor and thus brings the latter to effect. If the housing a is set aside again after the work is completed and the button h is thereby released, it returns automatically and thus causes the electric motor to switch off automatically.
According to the embodiment shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, the contact button h, the current interruption point i controlled by this and the feed point 7e for the wire lines are located outside the funnel in the dead space of the housing a. The actuation of the contact button h can take place by means of a lever bar I which is hinged to the housing a so that it can rotate at m.
In the case of the handset, the fan with the electric motor can optionally also be arranged on the suction housing a.
A pivotable arrangement of the suction housing a on an ironing machine or press is shown in FIG. 5 in a side view. Thereafter, the suction housing a is mounted between swivel arms n which are expediently articulated on both sides of the ironing machine or press at t on the underframe u. The swivel arms n are held in the rest position shown by a spring or weight load. To actuate the swivel arms n, they are connected to a foot lever M, for example by a linkage n2, n2.
The handling is as follows:
If, after an ironing process, the ironing machine or press is opened by bringing the iron w into the position shown by the dashed line using the foot lever v, the amount of moisture remaining after the ironing process can be quickly removed from the item of laundry or clothing remaining on the ironing pad z Extract conveniently by using the foot lever to swivel the extractor housing over the items to be ironed and, with the extractor fan n5 switched on, hold it down on the items to be ironed for a correspondingly long time.
For clothes presses in particular, it can be more advantageous in the case of finer workpieces to press the suction housing on separately from the swiveling in, in order to enable the suction surface to be placed on as carefully as possible. In this case, the suction housing is mounted in the pivot arms so that it can be moved vertically. This is shown by FIG. 6 in a front view with a partial section through the swivel arms and by FIG. 7 in a vertical section.
Thereafter, the transverse axis o carrying the suction housing a is mounted vertically displaceably in the longitudinal slots q of the swivel arms by means of sliders p and is held in its rest position by compression springs t '. The springs r can be readjusted by slides s.
With such a displaceable arrangement of the suction housing a in the swivel arms n, the suction housing a is placed on the ironing object by hand against the action of the springs 2 after it has been pivoted over the ironing object by means of the foot lever n4.
In the case of ironing devices that can be placed on a table, the swivel arms can conveniently be operated by means of a hand lever.
