Zur Erzielung grösserer Übersicht in Karteien werden auf die einzelnen Blätter oder auf ein eine Gruppe von Blättern bezeichnendes Blatt Reiter gesteckt. Handelt es sich dabei um Terminreiter, so lässt sich ein häufiges Umsetzen der Reiter nicht umgehen. Dadurch werden die oberen Ränder der Kartei- oder Kontenhlätter nach und nach unvermeidbar beschädigt, selbst wenn die Behandlung so sorgfältig und aufmerksam wie nur möglich ist. Dasselbe gilt auch für das häufige Heraussuchen der Karten oder Blätter infolge des Blätterns und Anfassens mit den Fingern. Das macht sich besonders nachteilig bemerkbar hei solchen Blättern, die aus einfachem Papier bestehen und für die Durchsehreibebuchhaltung bestimmt sind.
Starke Karteiblätter sind naturgemäss in sich widerstandsfähiger, eignen sich aber nicht zum Durchschreiben. Naturgemäss liessen sieh die für das Aufstecken der Reiter bestimmten Ränder, z. B. durch Bekleben mit einem Streifen, entsprechend verstärken. Dadurch wird aber der Blattstapel am oberen Rand wesentlich mehr Platz einnehmen als am unteren. Die Blätter lassen sich

übersteigen oder nennenswert dicker werden.
Gemäss der Erfindung wird der obere Rand der Blätter etwa bis zur Reichweite der Reiter durch eine das Papier tränkende Lösung gegenüber dem übrigen Blatteil in sich widerstandsfähiger gemacht. Für das Tränken kommen z. B. gummihaltige Lacke oder Lösungen in Frage, die den Papierrand in sich pergament-oder lederartig verfestigen. Da das Papier die Lösung aufsaugt, so greift die damit erzielte Verstärkung des Randes nicht über die Ebene des Papierblattes selbst oder doch nicht so weit störend hinaus, dass die Blätter am oberen Rand bei einem Stapel nennenswert voneinander abstehen werden.
In der Zeichnung ist ein solches Kontenblatt in Fig. i in Ansicht dargestellt. Fig. 2 zeigt einen Längsschnitt durch das Kontenblatt mit übertriebener Darstellung der Dicke.
Bei solchen Kontenblättern a werden die Reiter b meist auf den oberen Rand c/geklemmt.
Dieser obere Rand ist bis zur Reichweite der Klammern bu des Reiters b, also etwa bis zur Linie in Fi-. 1 mit einer geeigneten. das Papier in sich festigenden Lösung getränkt.
Neben gummihaltigen könnten auch solche öl- oder fetthaltige Lösungen in Betracht kommen, die nach der Behandlung des Papiers nicht abfetten, sofern nur der beabsichtigte Zweck der Festigung des Randes erzielt wird. Da aber solche fett- und auch harzhaltigen Lacke. wie sie z. B. für die Herstellung von Fenstern in Fensterbriefumschlägen verwendet werden, das Papier durchsichtig machen, was im vorliegenden Fall nicht erforderlich ist. so ist es zweckmässiger.
