EMI2.1
The amount of tungsten, which is originally in the hafnium due to the presence of the tungsten core wire, can be made as small as desired.
For the production of ductile zirconium, the same process can be used as it was described above for hafnium, with the difference that the first core wire is heated to approximately 14500 ° C. and the second core wire is expediently heated to over 1600 ° C. The maximum temperature to which the core wire may be heated is determined either by the melting temperature of the core wire, if it consists of the same metal as the metal to be deposited, or by the melting point
EMI2.2
consists of a different metal than the one to be deposited.
For the production of ductile hafnium or zirconium, one can also start from metallic hafnium and zirconium which has been purified in a manner other than that described above in the exemplary embodiment. So you can use the hafnium or zirconium z. B. anneal in a vacuum.
It is clear that it must be ensured that the vessel in which the ductile metal is produced and the metal parts present in this vessel are also free of gaseous impurities, but in any case that they do not release them during the production of the ductile metal.
PATENT CLAIMS:
1. A method for depositing hafnium or zirconium or both on a glowing body, this body being heated in an atmosphere containing one or more iodides of the metals to be deposited, characterized in that the body is at such a temperature above 1500 C. is heated so that the deposited metal grows as a single crystal in a direction perpendicular to the surface of the body.
