Druckknopfartiger Verschluss.

Snap-button closure.
The invention relates to a snap-fastener-like closure with a two-part expandable closing element and an expanding pin which is axially movable within the same and is used to actuate it. The known closures of this type, in which the effective ends of the closing member are brought closer to each other for the purpose of bringing about the closure and clamp the head of the push-button lower part, have the disadvantage that the parts of the closing member do not have a sufficiently secure storage in the open position and that a slight deformation of the Sehliessorganes or the parts supporting it or a slight change in position of the same make the lock loose or even ineffective.
According to the invention, these disadvantages are remedied in that the two parts of the closing element protruding from the one closure part are held together by means of a resilient ring and, for the purpose of bringing about the closed position, are spread apart by means of the expanding pin at their ends protruding from the push-button part against the action of this ring and so in the change closure part to be anchored.
In the drawing, some exemplary embodiments of the invention are illustrated, u. FIGS. 1 and 2 show a cufflink designed according to the invention in a side view; In Fig. 1 the two closure parts are shown separately, Fig. 2 shows the parts connected to one another. 3 and 4 illustrate the opposite ends of the part containing the closure member in end view; FIG. 5 shows, on a larger scale, a longitudinal section through the closure in the closed position. FIGS. 6 and 7 illustrate in side or. End view of the closure member and the expanding pin that actuates it.
8-14 illustrate in the same representation a second embodiment of the invention, the device in FIG. 13 being shown partially in section.
15-19 show a further exemplary embodiment of a closure intended for a protective cover or the like of motor vehicles. FIG. 15 shows the two closure parts separately in a side view, FIG. 16 illustrates the interconnected closure parts in section. 18 and 19 show the closure member in side or. End view.
In the two-part cufflink according to FIGS. 1-7, the part a made of sheet metal is designed as a button and provided with a flange-shaped edge which can be stuck through the buttonhole of the cuff. The other part b is pushed through in the same way on the other side of the sleeve. The button a has a retracted central part which merges into an inwardly crimped end piece c (FIG. 5), which can be detachably connected to the closing element e, e arranged in the other closing part b and protruding from it.
Within the base of part a, a spring d is provided, which has the purpose of moving the expanding pin h to the right and pushing back the organ e, e when it is released from part c.
The locking member consists of two equal parts e, the ends of which when placed next to one another form a pear-shaped head / which protrudes into the middle part of the button a in the locking position. In the vicinity of their other ends, the parts e are expanded to form a flange, on the circumference of which an annular groove is provided for receiving a resilient wire ring g, which spans the parts e and holds them together.
The ring g enables the parts e to move relative to one another, so that their pear-shaped head
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
parts-apart or can be brought closer to one another. The organ e, e lies ziimseil within the button b, but the pear-shaped end f protrudes from the same (Figs. 1 and 5).
To spread the parts apart, an expanding pin h is used in a known manner, which is axially displaceable in a central opening provided in the same. The pin h has a smaller diameter over part of its length than at its front end. The latter is dimensioned in such a way that it presses the pear-shaped ends of the parts e apart when it lies within them (Figs. 1 and 5). However, if it is pushed out of the parts e (FIG. 6), the end pieces f are pressed against one another by means of the ring g. The central opening of parts e, e serving to receive the expanding pin is designed so that it forms a kind of guide for the left end of the expanding pin and therefore enables it to be pulled back into parts e, e.
The outer end of the pin h protrudes in a known manner into a cap t provided with a flange, which cap is freely movable in the axial direction in an opening provided on the outer side of the button b. Between the cap i and the adjacent ends of the parts e, a spiral spring i is arranged around the pin h which presses the expanding pin lu against the button i.
In the open position, the right end of the expanding pin h is due to the action of the spring i for parts within the closing element e, e (FIG. 1), so that the parts of this closing element are spread apart a little. To bring about the locking position, the button i is first pressed in, this causes the pin h to move to the left, so that its left end piece moves beyond the right end of the parts e, which therefore contract under the action of the ring g.
At the same time, the two closure parts a and b are placed against each other, whereby the spring d is tensioned and the button i is released; As a result, the closing element snaps to the right under the action of the spring d and i, and the left end of the expanding pin comes to lie within the parts e and spreads them apart, whereby the two closure parts are connected to one another (Fig. 5).
In order to release the lock, the button i is pressed in again, thereby moving the parts into the position shown in FIG. 6, so that the two locking parts can be released.
In the embodiment illustrated in FIGS. 8-14, the expanding pin h protrudes onto the outside of the closure part S and is provided here with a button k by means of which it can be pulled outward. The pin h is provided with a shoulder l, which is adjoined by a bulge m which cooperates with a spring p which is shaped in a similar way to the spring shown in FIG. If the pin h is pressed inwards, the parts e are spread apart by the left end of the pin (Fig. 12), the end pieces of the spring p press against the right end of the bulge? K and secure the pin against unintentional shifting to the right.
If the pin h is pulled outwards for the purpose of loosening the lock, the left end of the pin h releases the parts e and their front ends are pressed against one another under the action of the resilient ring. The end pieces of the spring p are then pressed against the other (left) end of the bulge m (FIG. 13), so that the pin h is secured against unintentional movement in this position as well.
The invention can be used for a wide variety of purposes. In all types of application, the closure member e, e described is used and the means for actuating it remain essentially the same. Only a few constructive details have to be adapted to the desired purpose.
15-19 illustrate the invention on a closure intended for protective covers of motor vehicles. In this embodiment, the parts e are made of sheet metal by means of a
Ring o held together, which lays with a number of radial resilient tabs against the parts e and presses them together. The parts e are pressed apart by means of the front end of the expanding pin, which slides along the correspondingly designed inner surfaces of the parts e. When the pin h is pulled out, the head parts f of the organ e are pressed against one another by means of the ring o (FIGS. 15 and 18). The axial movement of the pin h is limited in both directions and the pin will
