Verfahren zur Trennung von Zirkonium und Hafnium.
Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zur Trennung des Elements der Atomnummer 72, des Hafniums, vom Zirkonium, und das Verfahren besteht hauptsächlich darin, dass zur Trennung von Hafnium und Zirkonium Oxalsäure angewendet wird und danach eine fraktionierte Kristallisation erfolgt, indem man sich der verschiedenen Löslichkeit der Oxalate bzw. der Oxalsäureverbindungen von Hafnium und Zirkonium bedient.
Nach der Erfindung kann man in der Weise vorgehen, dass man hafniumhaltiges Zirkonhydroxyd im Überschuss von Oxalsäure löst oder einer Lösung eines hafniumhaltigen Zirkonsalzes Oxalsäure im Überschuss zusetzt, und die gebildeten löslichen Komplexsalze einer fraktionierten Kristallisation unterwirft, bei welcher die Ausfällungen einen andern Hafnium-bzw. Zirkoniumgehalt aufweisen, als die Mutterlauge. Durch fortgesetzte fraktionierte Kristallisation kann man den gewünschten Trennunggrad für Hafnium und Zirkonium erreichen. Die Trennung wird durch Zusatz von Ammoniumoxalat oder andern Ammoniumsalzen im Überschuss begünstigt.
Beispiel : Hafniumhaltiges Zirkoniumsulfat oder eine andere lösliche, hafniumhaltige Zirkonverbindung wird mit Ammoniumhydroxyd gefällt, worauf auf jedes Molekül Zirkonsalz 4 Moleküle Oxalsäure zugesetzt werden. Die entstandene Lösung wird zur Durchführung der fraktionierten Kristallisation von Ammoniumzirkoniumoxalat bzw. Ammoniumhafniumoxalat eingeengt.
Man kann das Ammoniumzirkoniumoxalat bzw. das Ammoniumhafniumoxalat auch durch direkten Zusatz von Ammoniumoxalat zu den löslichen Zirkonium-bzw. Hafniumverbindungen, wie den Oxyhalogeniden. den Nitraten usw. herstellen.
PATENT-ANSPRÜCHE :
1. Verfahren zur Trennung von Zirkonium und Hafnium durch fraktionierte Kristallisation, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass von einer Lösung der Oxalate bzw. der Oxalsäureverbindungen von Hafnium und Zirkonium ausgegangen wird.
