Es wurde nun gefunden, dass ein aus einer Säure und dem korrespondierenden Salze der Erdalkalien oder Erden hergestellter Leim, den ich Mineralleim nenne, sich vorzüglich zum Formen der obengenannten Mineralien eignet. Dieser Leim besitzt eine grosse Klebekraft, so dass er den Mineralien eine grosse Plastizität und Haftfähigkeit verleiht. Mit diesem Leim lassen sich nicht allein die rohen Erze der Zirkoniumverbindungen, wie die Silikate und Oxyde, sondern auch andere Oxyde leicht binden.
Die Mineralien werden gepulvert und mit dem Mineralleim gemischt und geformt. Nach dem Trocknen, was aber nicht immer nötig ist, werden die Massen bei einer Temperatur von 800 bis 1000'C erhitzt, wodurch eine Reaktion einsetzt und poren-und rissefreie, absolut feuerbeständige Massen erzielt werden.
Der als Bindemittel benutzte Leim lässt sieh auf verschiedene Weise herstellen. Man lost z. B. irgendein Salz der Erdalkalien in der jedem Salze zugehörigen Säure, also ein Phosphatsalz der Erdalkalien mit Phosphorsäure oder ein Sulfatsalz mit Schwefelsäure usf. Man nimmt z. B. gewohnliche Phosphorsäure und setzt unter Umrühren soviel Kalziumphosphat hinzu, bis die Lösung gesättigt ist.

Zur Herstellung des Bindemittels nimmt man z. B. 100 Teile einer 50"n Phosphorsäure und löst 60 Teile Aluminiumphosphatsalz darin auf. Man erhält so eine stark klebende viskose Flüssigkeit. die man zum Einbinden von hoehfeuerfesten Mineralien gut verwenden kann. Diese Flüssigkeit kann je nach Bedarf entsprechend verdünnt werden. Es lässt sieh auch Schwefelsäure mit Kalziumsulfat absättigen. Natürlich lassen sich noch andere geeignete Salze verwenden. wenn nur immer die dem Salze zugehörige Säure hinzukommi. Ferner lassen sich auch Gemische von verschiedenen Salzen mit den ihnen zugehörigen Säuren verwenden.

It has now been found that a glue made from an acid and the corresponding salts of alkaline earths or earths, which I call mineral glue, is excellently suited for shaping the above-mentioned minerals. This glue has a great adhesive power, so that it gives the minerals great plasticity and adhesion. With this glue, not only the raw ores of the zirconium compounds, such as silicates and oxides, but also other oxides can easily be bound.
The minerals are powdered and mixed with the mineral glue and shaped. After drying, which is not always necessary, the masses are heated to a temperature of 800 to 1000.degree. C., as a result of which a reaction begins and pore-free and crack-free, absolutely fire-resistant masses are achieved.
The glue used as a binding agent can be made in different ways. One loses z. B. any salt of the alkaline earths in the acid associated with each salt, i.e. a phosphate salt of the alkaline earth with phosphoric acid or a sulfate salt with sulfuric acid, etc. B. ordinary phosphoric acid and add enough calcium phosphate while stirring until the solution is saturated.
