Small gas generator, in particular for motor vehicles.

In the case of stable generators with a cast-iron furnace shaft, the proposal has already been made to accommodate the water used for generating steam in a shell space surrounding the lower part of the generator, the wall of which is cast together with the walls of the furnace shaft.

The water tank acts as a heat insulator for the hottest part of the generator, which can therefore be provided with a significantly weaker fireclay lining.

The invention relates to small transportable generators of the type used in particular in motor vehicles which, instead of gasoline, are operated with generator gas which is generated in a generator system arranged on the vehicle. Such generators are made of sheet metal and must be easily accessible and dismantled in all of their parts for cleaning. According to the invention, for this purpose the water tank placed around the lower part of the generator shaft is designed as a special part and is easily detachably connected to the generator head.

1 of the drawing shows a schematic representation of a small gas generator designed according to the invention in a vertical section; FIG. 2 shows a section along the line A-B of FIG.

In the illustrated embodiment, the water tank consists of two parts a, b, which are adapted to the cross-sectional shape of the generator shaft c and are placed around the lower part of the same. The two containers a, b lie tightly against the outer surface of the shaft c and are releasably connected to the generator c by suitable means, for example by means of a sheet metal strip. The heat radiated from the lower hottest part of the generator, which would otherwise escape into the open, is sufficient to evaporate the water contained in the containers a, b as required.

The container a is provided with a controllable air inlet opening d and with a steam pipe t branching off above the water level. The pipe t is detachable by means of a clamp g
