Tool for producing a double fold on sheet metal in one operation.
The subject of the invention is a tool which is used to produce a double fold on metal sheets, such as is used, for example, in food cans with an inserted tear strip, in a single operation.
The tool (Fig. 4 and 5) consists of an upper part 0 attached to the press ram of a conventional eccentric or crank press and a lower part U attached to the press table. The lower part U has a sheet metal support dz at the front on the sheet metal insert side and an adjustable stop B at the back. The die To produce the fold, the same (FIG. 3) is formed by the groove N for the bow 1, the bow 1I is produced with the help of the edge K. The upper part 0 consists of two main parts: the part T, which is rigidly clamped in the press ram, and the rail S, which is spring-mounted and guided in it. The rail S is movably connected to part T by two bolts Bo.
On the one hand, these bolts prevent the rail 8 from falling out of the part T, on the other hand, they enable the rail to be precisely adjusted relative to the part T. This setting is achieved by loosening the lock nut M and turning the head Ko, whereupon the bolt Bo with the help the lock nut is tightened again. The connection between the part T and the bolts on the one hand and between the rail 8 and the bolts on the other hand is mediated by corresponding clamps KI, and KI.
The mode of operation of the tool is as follows: The correspondingly cut sheet metal strip B1 is inserted, as indicated in FIG. 5, in such a way that it hits the stop B. If, after switching on the press, the upper part 0 moves downwards, the rail 8 will first hit the sheet metal strip and, as you move downwards, turn it into the groove, as can be seen in FIG. 2, provided that the spring tension on the two bolts is greater than the greatest resistance when bending the sheet.
During the further downward movement of the upper part, part T must overcome the spring tension with the rail 8 stationary by means of the clamp and the two bolts and the jaw Ba now grips the shorter part of the bleeh strip and bends it downwards around the edge K, whereby it is in the lowest position in the indicated shape (Fig. 3) is pressed. During the upward movement of the ram, the upper part with its jaw Ba first lifts off the work piece and only when the heads Ko of the bolts Bo sit on the clamps Kl2 and Kt2 does an upward movement of the rail into the starting position (Fig. 1) take place .
