Process for producing warped drawings and for making printing plates that are difficult to imitate.

If the security technician is given the task of creating a drawing composed of excellent ornaments, which cannot be designed with the help of a guilloché machine or a relief machine in such a way that the repeating basic motif of the drawing does not appear regularly, but in various warps, then he becomes, there the guilloché or. the relief machine in this case fails, cannot do anything other than use the procedure, the results of which were published in photographic correspondence in 1908.

However, this method has the disadvantage that the lines of the drawing, which have the same thickness in the basic motif, widen and narrow in the photomechanical warping, similar to the distortions using the rubber method, which makes the fund produced by this method appear restless and streaky. In order to avoid this inconvenience, one was forced to put together the whole restless-looking fund on a larger scale, and to photomechanically produce a base plate from this drawing, which was used as a template for the reduction work. However, since this work is extremely tedious, the inventors have worked out a process which can be used to advantage in the production of warped funds that are to be made from a self-contained ornament by warping.

It is based on the fact that in the reduction work, the reduction of the drawing on the template is not carried out in the usual way, in which a square becomes a reduced square and a circle becomes a smaller circle, i.e. not working in such a way that the Proportions of the individual parts of the drawing are preserved, but that the work can be carried out by adjusting the reduction apparatus in accordance with the laws of the desired distortion in such a way that from the
Square differently warped rectangles, rhombi and rhomboids, trapezoids and trapezoids, from which circles differently warped ellipses and other curves arise.

By stringing together these warped parts, which arose from a basic motif of whatever kind, one can obtain drawings (funds, backgrounds) that are not obtainable by any of the previously common methods. The process therefore represents a significant advance in securities technology.
