Abstract

Se divulgan composiciones que comprenden un surfactante no iónico y del 0,1 al 30% en peso de un alcoxilato de bajo peso molecular. Algunos alcoxilatos de bajo peso molecular tienen la fórmula R-O-(AO)ₚH en donde R es un grupo alquilo C₈-C₁₆ lineal o ramificado o alcanolamida, AO es oxipropileno (PO), oxietileno (EO), o combinaciones de ellos en configuración aleatoria o de bloques, p tiene un valor promedio dentro del rango de 0,5 a 7, el número promedio de grupos de PO está dentro del rango de 0,5 a 4, y el número promedio de grupos de EO está dentro del rango de 0 a 3. Soluciones acuosas diluidas que comprenden un surfactante no iónico y una proporción menor de un alcoxilato de bajo peso molecular humedecen superficies hidrofóbicas más eficazmente, limitan la formación de espuma y desengrasan mejor que las soluciones que contienen únicamente el surfactante no iónico. Los alcoxilatos de bajo peso molecular ayudan a aumentar el rendimiento humectante en aplicaciones que requieren surfactantes de baja formación de espuma, como detergentes para lavadoras y lavavajillas automáticos.
