Abstract

En un sistema de segado, se puede obtener un significativo incremento en la velocidad de avance a la vez que se mantiene una eficiencia aceptable de nivel de corte, medida por la longitud promedio de rastrojo, mediante una combinación de una o más de las características en las cuales la carrera de corte se reduce desde la longitud convencional de 3,0 pulgadas hasta un valor del orden de 2,0 pulgadas; la longitud del borde cortante de cada hoja de cuchilla se aumenta a una longitud mayor a 2,2 pulgadas; el ancho en la parte anterior de la superficie saliente de cada guarda se incrementa a más de 1,0 pulgada; y el borde frontal de la hoja se conforma con un vértice para dejar caer material de cultivo hacia uno u otro lado del vértice.
