Abstract

Una composición y método para mitigar la autofagia vegetal y/o apoptosis de las células recién formadas en plantas cultivadas en condiciones de alta tensión ambiental, tales como altas temperaturas. Se ha demostrado que la aplicación exógena de una citoquinina, preferentemente la quinetina, a las raíces o al follaje (es decir, flores y horas) de las plantas supera, o al menos mitiga considerablemente, la autofagia cuando es aplicada durante o justo antes de la floración. Los resultados experimentales indican que la autofagia inducida por altas temperaturas, y la apoptosis posterior de nuevas células, se debe a una deficiencia de citoquinina en los tejidos vegetales. La aplicación de bajas concentraciones de potasio junto con la citoquinina parece proporcionar un efecto sinérgico al amplificar el efecto de la citoquinina para reducir la autofagia y aumentar la productividad de los cultivos.
