Abstract

This refers to a method for dry coking of coke by means of steam with subsequent use of the generated synthesis gas, said method includes cyclic coking of coal to coke by sending a tempering device after discharge from the coke oven and The steam is introduced into the tempering device for dry tempering, thus creating synthesis gas composed of carbon monoxide (CO) and hydrogen (H₂) by means of a water-gas reaction and the synthesis gas produced is incorporated for a later application. This method makes it possible to use the heat generated during coking for the production of useful synthesis gas which, in turn, can be used for a later purpose or in the heating process, thus achieving in total an extremely uniform heat balance at throughout the entire process
