Abstract

Reivindicación 164: Un caldo de fermentación que comprende: (a) un microorganismo recombinante capaz de producir un producto de alcohol; (b) un sustrato de carbono fermentable; (c) un catalizador capaz de esterificar los ácidos grasos extracelularmente con dicho producto de alcohol en ésteres de alcohol de ácido graso; y (d) ésteres de alcohol de ácido graso, en donde los ésteres de alcohol de ácido graso se producen durante la fermentación. Claim 1: A method of producing butyl esters comprising contacting butanol produced in a fermentation process with at least one carboxylic acid and at least one catalyst capable of esterifying the carboxylic acid with butanol to form carboxylic acid butyl esters; wherein the carboxylic acid in the fermentation process is present in a concentration sufficient to produce a two-phase mixture. Claim 4: The method according to claim 1, wherein the raw material in the fermentation process comprises one or more fermentable sugars derived from corn grain, corn cob, crop residues such as husks, corn stubble, herbs , wheat, rye, wheat straw, barley, barley straw, hay, rice straw, rod grass, paper waste, sugarcane bagasse, sorghum, sugarcane, soy, components obtained from grain milling, cellulosic material, lignocellulosic material, trees, branches, roots, leaves, wood chips, sawdust, shrubs and weeds, vegetables, fruits, flowers, animal manure, and mixtures thereof. Claim 164: A fermentation broth comprising: (a) a recombinant microorganism capable of producing an alcohol product; (b) a fermentable carbon substrate; (c) a catalyst capable of esterifying fatty acids extracellularly with said alcohol product in fatty acid alcohol esters; and (d) fatty acid alcohol esters, wherein fatty acid alcohol esters are produced during fermentation. Claim 174: A recombinant yeast cell capable of producing isobutanol, the yeast cell comprises a biosynthetic route of isobutanol in which said biosynthetic route of isobutanol comprises at least one enzyme that catalyzes each of the following substrate to product conversions: ) pyruvate in acetolactate; ii) acetolactate in 2,3-dihydroxyisovalerate; iii) 2,3-dihydroxyisovalerate in a-ketoisovalerate; iv) a-ketoisovalerate in isobutyraldehyde; and v) isobutyraldehyde in isobutanol; and wherein at least one of the iii) enzyme or the v) enzyme is encoded by the heterologous polynucleotides integrated into the chromosome.
