Abstract

Se describe una espuma de poliuretano viscoelástica que es el producto de reaccion de por lo menos un poliol derivado de aceite natural y de por lo menos un compuesto aromático que tiene un promedio de más de un grupo isocianato. Una espuma de poliuretano viscoelástica tiene un flujo de aire de por lo menos aproximadamente 0,5 l/s, en donde la espuma se forma en la ausencia sustancial del poliol de copolímero y aun no se ha reticulado mecánicamente y se prepara preferiblemente usando por lo menos un poliol derivado de aceite natural, más preferiblemente en una cantidad de por lo menos aproximadamente 20 por ciento en peso de los polioles usados. Un proceso para preparar una espuma viscoelástica, comprende las etapas de (A) formar una mezcla de reaccion que incluye por lo menos un poliol, por lo menos un poliisocianato, agua, por lo menos un catalizador, en donde el poliol comprende por lo menos un poliol derivado de aceite natural: y (B) someter la mezcla de reaccion a condiciones suficientes para dar lugar a la mezcla de reaccion para expandirla y curarla a modo de formar una espuma de poliuretano viscoelástica. En otra modalidad, un proceso comprende las etapas de (a) formar una composicion de poliol derivado de aceite natural que comprende por lo menos un poliol derivado de aceite natural y agua; (b) mezclar por lo menos un catalizador de gelificacion y por lo menos un catalizador de soplado con la composicion de poliol derivado de aceite natural para formar una mezcla de catalizador-poliol; (c) suministrar un isocianato en una cantidad que corresponde a un índice de isocianato para un pMDI de por lo menos aproximadamente 65 y no más de aproximadamente 95 o, cuando el isocianato es un TDI o MDI o una combinacion de los mismos, de por lo menos aproximadamente 80 y no más de aproximadamente 105; y (d) mezclar el isocianato con la mezcla de catalizador-poliol.
