Abstract

Las enfermedades neurologicas, incluyendo las enfermedades de almacenamiento lisosomal, pueden ser tratadas exitosamente utilizando el suministro intraventricular de los agentes terapéuticos (esfingomielinasa, alfa-L-iduronidasa, glucocerebrosidasa, alfa-galactosidasa A, maltasa ácida, hexosaminidasa, alfa-glucosidasa) para evitar la barrera hematoencefálica. De manera similar, de este modo pueden ser suministrados agentes de diagnostico y agentes anestésicos al cerebro. La administracion puede ser llevada a cabo lentamente para lograr un máximo efecto. Tal administracion permite mayor penetracion a las porciones distales del cerebro. Reivindicacion 1: Un método para suministrar un agente al cerebro de un paciente, comprendiendo el método: administrar el agente al paciente vía un ventrículo lateral del cerebro a una velocidad tal que la administracion de una unica dosis insume más de dos horas.
