Abstract

Un proceso donde se produce ácido acético por oxidacion de etano. Un subproducto de la oxidacion del etano es el etileno. Un alto contenido de etileno en la corriente de gas de reciclaje causará bajas eficiencias y mayores pérdidas como subproducto COx en el reactor de ácido acético. De hecho, el etileno en la alimentacion de reciclaje compite con el etano por la limitada cantidad de oxigeno que se alimenta, dando como resultado mayores ineficiencias en forma de oxidos de carbono que la oxidacion directa del etano. El etileno se extrae en este proceso por una reaccion de oxidacion adicional a una temperatura suficientemente baja como para que el etano no sea reactivo, pero que el etileno se convierta a ácido acético. Ya sea el efluente del reactor de oxidacion de etano o una porcion de la corriente de reciclaje al reactor de oxidacion de etano o toda la misma, o cualquier combinacion de las mismas, se pueden tratar de esta manera para reducir el contenido de etileno de dichas corrientes.
