Abstract
La presente tiene por objetivo un elemento catodico, para el equipo de una cuba de célula de electrolisis destinada a la produccion de aluminio, que comprende un bloque catodico (5) de material carbonoso que tienen por lo menos una ranura longitudinal en una de sus caras laterales y una barra de union (6) de acero, que se aloja en la susodicha ranura de suerte que una parte de la barra salga de un extremo del bloque, que se sella en la ranura por interposicion de un material de sellado conductor entre la barra y el bloque y que contiene por lo menos un inserto metálico cuya conductividad eléctrica es superior a la del susodicho acero. Segun la presente, el inserto (16) se coloca longitudinalmente en el interior de la barra y se situa, por lo menos parcialmente, en el trozo (19) de la barra de union que está destinada a situarse en el exterior de la cuba y la barra de union (6) no se halla al bloque catodico en una zona de ôno selladoö (17) en una determinada superficie S situada en el extremo de la ranura en cabeza de bloque. La presencia de un inserto segun la presente permite obtener simultáneamente una reduccion muy importante de la caída de tension catodica total y de la densidad de corriente en cabeza de bloque.
