Abstract

Composición de revestimiento que comprende sílice coloidales catiónicas alcalinas relativamente bajas y láminas de registro de chorro de tinta preparadas a partir de dichos revestimientos. El revestimiento comprende aglutinante y sílice coloidal catiónica, que con preferencia tiene un tamano de partícula en el rango de aproximadamente 1 a aproximadamente 300 nanómetros, y que posee una relación de sólidos a metal alcalino de por lo menos la suma de AW(-0,013SSA+9), AW es el peso atómico del metal alcalino presente en la sílice coloidal y SSA es el área de superficie específica de la sílice. Se ha descubierto que si se reduce el contenido de metal alcalino, por ejemplo, sodio, de la sílice coloidal, los revestimientos preparados a partir de dicha sílice coloidal y aplicados a soportes de láminas de registro de chorro de tinta convencionales proporcionan un brillo especular de por lo menos 30 a 60°, aún a una relación de sólidos de sílice a sólidos de aglutinante relativamente alta de 1:1 o más.
